Joyce the Christ mas stuff has been out for a while here. Mince Pies are already going out of date.

I'm not a grinch, and do enjoy the festive holidays. But I enjoy them in December. Preferably after the 5th December so we've gotten all the family birthdays out of the way.

Should we be placing bets on how far my house will be habitable come Christmas? Winner gets a year old Christmas Pudding I found the other day in the cupboard!

Back from seeing DD. The English run café with cake was closed and up for sale so we went to a French one. I hadn't had lunch so I had a salad with different sorts of duck meat and I had a glass of rosé wine and DD had had lunch so she had apricot tart and coffee. It was really good value. We had a good natter and she showed me photos of the house she is renting from the Maire and the house she wants to run as a B&B and tea shop. It looks ideal, I hope the bank comes up with the loan. Charlie was having a riding lesson. No school on Wednesday afternoons.

I hope Obelixx's move goes well. Hope she can post sometimes with an i Phone or something, 10 days will seem a long time without her here.

Now I must carry on planting up and potting on the plants that arrived in the post this morning.

I found some mincemeat - bought and home made - which are now sat in a crate somewhere.  Must remember to do a wee raid on the patisserie wholesaler for decent quantities of raisins and chocolate chips.   Nearest in the Vendée is an hour away and pricey!

New house - it's a Tardis despite no attic!   More room downstairs and less up but that's what we wanted.

Front view.  3 years ago. That hibiscus in the grass has disappeared under a sea of yellow honeysuckle.

    image

Rear view - grass mowed by neighbour's tractor for pics but usually by 2 sheep, now gone

    image

Back garden nearest house - gravel with occasional beds and very very weedy!   Beth Chatto here we come?

    image

Hen house sitting in fenced off area which may become a veggie patch.

Lots of grass, a few trees, 2 ruins, very tall bamboo, a cherry, a plum and a walnut plus a grapevine, loads of weeds, 2 wisterias and one sad, solitary clem.   No roses!   Ropy lavender and a campsis vine on a world takeover bid.   Loads to clean up and plan and plant........

The dogs love it and the cat has explored some of the "garden" and decided it's OK too but she prefers indoors.    6 years she's been with us and still worries she might be abandoned again.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

  • What a lovely lot of garden to get your teeth into, Obelixx!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Nice house obelixx and the garden is certainly a big project but an exciting one.

What a lovely place, Obelixx. Thank you for sending the photos. Garden looks an exciting project, but lots of work. When you look at it what do you see? How it is now or what it will be when you've planted it up? I remember looking at our brambly, nettly overgrown wasteland and seeing a flower garden with lawns and roses! But I was younger then.

    - - - - and you have a beautiful garden now, after all your hard work BL.

  • Gorgeous Obelixx - what space!!! What views!!! What potential!!!

I might not need structure for the Shady Bank - Wonky has two small Viburnum tinus surplus to her requirements that she's potting up for me to grow on image I wonder how long they'll take to get to the size I need - perhaps I'll get obelisks first, then the Viburnums can take over later.

BL, glad you and DD had a lovely time ((hugs))

Evening all. Vile here and not to get any better....image

Looks fantastic obelixx. What a lovely, slightly blank-ish, canvas to get stuck into. Will you get a couple more sheep?   image

I won't comment on boobs and clothes. I've passed mine on to my girls too...image

Can't wear anything that has buttons unless I want them popping off on a regular basis..... image

That's a good result Hosta. Always handy getting summat for nowt.

Our local Co-op has had mince pies at the checkout for ages. What's that about? Don't get me started on the three ring circus that Hallowe'en has become either....
