I love that 'green haze' over the fields after the autumn sowing or in the early spring. Looking forward to seeing it in the front garden. The weather here is perfect for lawn sowing . after yesterday's rain it's a bright and sunny morning and warming up nicely here in Norfolk, with a pale blue sky and not hardly a cloud to be seen. Wood pigeons are sitting on the rooftops in their pairs and the sun is lighting their breasts glowing pink.
We're off here http://www.thursford.com/the-collection.aspx later this morning as we want to look at the traditional decorative painting on the showmen's wagons and fairground rides - we've been meaning to go all summer and they close on Friday to get ready for their Christmas Spectacular, so thought we'd better get a move on
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Yes Dove. Also, Hubby would like the foot area of the bed clear for his feet again.
its amazing how the "C" word keeps popping up, isn't it. We can't avoid it here either. The shops are already trying to sell food and other stuff. Sigh! Not that I care very much either way, we just do our usual thing and don't usually get caught up in the hype.
When I'm in charge of everything (and it can't be long now, can it? ) all dogs will be licensed and neutered/spayed except for those registered for breeding - these will need a Certificate of Soundness issued by a panel of specialist vets, and all potential matings will have to be approved by a panel consisting of KC breed specialists andvets (with vets in the majority). Progeny of unapproved matings will not be registered and must be neutered - anyone breaking this law will have the dogs removed from their possession and they will not be allowed to keep another pet ... ever!
It's probably a good job I'm going out for the day

What a difference a good sleep makes.
Lovely morning , bright and a bit breezy. When the dew dries off I'm hoping to get the grass cut. Didn't do it last week.

Wise words as ever Dove, but IMHO the Kennel Club are in a large part guilty here. They set the "breed standard" which dictates appearance.
Essentially mutations within dogs have been deliberately inbreed to perpetuate them .
Look at photos of Bulldogs in old paintings, they don't have Queen Anne legs or mangled faces.
Listen to the vets, they have to deal with the problems.
