Thanks Dove. That's a good idea. I've got a little note book that fits nicely in my hand (if I can remember to do it) I hate being 76. Have I said that before? I'll bet I have.
Ive told the Dr that I get woken up at 6am with my heart racing and then a huge sweat. She changed my prescription and now I'm getting woken with the same symptoms at 4 am and a few more time before I eventually get up. GRrrr! I had to wear a 24 hr heart monitor last week, but I won't get see her for another month. Keep on keeping on, as they say.
Enjoyed reading back, seems so strange to have time to just sit and relax with a cup of coffee, it's a good job I have your pages to read otherwise I wouldn't be able to sit still so long.
Pat I do hope your doctor can do something for you, do you have to really wait a whole month, it seems a long time to be suffering?
Dove, sorry to hear about your poor chap too, another reminder to make the most of everyday.
Yesterday I met some really nice people from the UK (holiday makers), we chatted for quite a while and they said to me that all through their holiday they had struggled daily to find anywhere to sit and have a cup of tea and a sandwich and/or a cake. I told them about my 'Chateau de Gateau' idea and they thought it was marvellous, really felt encouraged, I just know there are a lot of people out there looking for just what I am planning. All the while I was talking to them I kept thinking about fellow Forkers; they could so easily been any number of you on here, such chatty, interesting people, it was a very surreal feeling.
I'm going to a Garden Club meeting this afternoon, feel a bit of a fraud as my garden is non existent at the moment, I did clip back the two roses I have in it and the cherry tree. I am going to collect all the pots from the B&B later this week, I didn't like to take them whilst there were still guests staying but I think they are all leaving on Sunday. Will be nice to have something to potter with and I think I have a lot of spring bulbs buried at the bottom of them, I might try and find some winter pansies or violas to freshen them up, although the geraniums in them looked pretty good when I saw them last. They might go on for another month or so.
Fairy, btw, regards solar lanterns, you more or less had it right, although I have sat out there a couple of times and fully expected them to light up automatically after dark, I didn't think for a minute there would be a switch to be found, much less find it buried deep withing the lantern almost beyond reach.
Looking forward to GBBO tonight, not sure about the switching to Channel 4 thing, won't they have to play by the rules and keep the format, surely it would be silly to change something so obviously successful? I have seen the French version from time to time and although the 'bakes' are very French the format is remarkably similar. Shame if they mess it up, one of the few programmes I really enjoy and make an effort to watch. That and SCD of course.

Phew! It's sweltering here. I've done a bit of shopping in the city centre and now I'm sitting in the shade outside an Italian restaurant with an Aperol and the newspaper crossword - waiting for my friend but I'm half an hour early. Cheers!

His position was untenable so I'm pleased he went straightaway instead of hanging on. I just hope he doesn't wriggle, duck and dive like Blair and deny the consequences of unseemly haste and lack of forward planning in Libya as TB still does in Iraq.
Hot hot hot here so doing very little and slowly. OH has been going through cleaning trugs - shoes, car, garage, kitchen etc and chucking out old products. He's filthy.
DD - it's hard but you learning to slow down and relax is a very good thing - and you'll need to build up reserves of energy and inspiration for those tea rooms. Good luck with that. Hope you get your pots back OK too.

Hazel, my pharmacist doesn't leave the brochure in the packets of tablets, so one day I asked him for possible side effects of them. He printed out 5 pages on information. Needless to say, I filed these pages carefully near where I sit when watching TV and as predicted, didn't get around to reading through it all. I've now gone through it with a pink marker pen and guess what some of the side effects can be.
. sudden fever with sweating, fast heart beat and ....
. Difficulty breathing.
. dry mouth and increased sweating
. hot flushes
. Unusual hair loss or thinning.
. Ability to drive or operate machinery........
der! She's sent me for chest x-Ray's and breathing tests in a machine to try to work out why I am out of breath all the time. All with no result.
this just reinforces for me that all my problems originate with the tablets. I will be taking the pages when I next see her.
On a brighter note, Pixel just walked out to the lounge room and stretched out in front of the fire. It's so lovely that she has settled in so well. We'll miss her when she goes back to our Son's place.

Enjoy your well earned break DD.
I wonder if this had anything to do with "Call me Dave"'s decision to quit?

My immediate thought!
