  • I've been banned from cleaning windows GWRS - last time I did it was a couple of days before Wonky's wedding and I did something painful to my back - spent the wedding dosed up on painkillers imageimage  No matter how much I tell OH that it was only the dining room window that does that to me, 'cos it involves leaning across the sideboard, he won't let me clean any windows - he does them when he sees me with the equipment in my hands image

    Morning all.

My plug plants have arrived with the post lady! Must plant some before going to meet DD in a café. I hope there will be cake, no to marathons (except the chocolate sort)!

FG, I can't give up dresses here, it's just too hot in summer. In 2003 I wore a long damp T shirt to keep cool, had to re-wet it when it dried.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Hi everyone. A bit late catching up tonight, but I turned my iPad just now and got told I've got 22 messages. I haven't been getting notifications for several days, so it seems as though it's been fixed.

We've  been getting weather warnings coming over from the west and on tonight's news we were informed that the whole of South Australia has no power, can you believe that? A whole state!

i hope it's a bit better for us when the storm reaches us either tonight or tomorrow. Maybe it'll have blown itself out by then.

I bought a CM monitor today. Haven't heard any alarm and the dial is on zero, so I guess that means the heater is ok   It's good to know, though.

Hi Par, the cm monitor just gives you peace of mindimage.  We had one installed when British Gas did a service on the boiler and ours is mounted on the wall beside it.  The smoke alarm just goes off when I'm grilling anything (and other folk don't shut the doorimage).  Hope the storm doesn't hit too hard and that you manage to keep plenty of water.  Yes a whole State without powerimage.

Lizzie I'm sure there will be cake.  Wait till DD's got a tea shopimage

So pleased the notifications are sorted nowimage

Oh Pat I'm glad that you got a monitor. Its such an easy way to help reassure yourself that of all the external factors at least its not that.

I've abandoned the museum and come home: we've not had internet there for three days now and I need to get my emails checked! Especially as teachers often find it easier to email between classes than try to call. I am now in a luxurious office, good lighting, wonderfully comfortable chair, solid desk (designed for adults), carpet... its the one room that we've finished and my gosh is it the complete opposite to the plaster falling off the walls light lit with a single bulb, "cupboard" that two of us are now trying to use as an office (its only got the one desk!) back at work.

Reggie is a bit confused by the whole turning up early: I think I've disturbed his sleep!!

  • Good afternoon all!

I was woken up in the small hours by an out-of-tune ambulance parked under the window.  At least, that's what my fuddled brain told me the noise was - until I realised the "nee-naw" sound was me wheezing...

I wonder what proportion of the female population over "27" is a standard dress size?  (Ok Fairy, I don't wear dresses either, but no clothes I try on seem to fit without hacking them about...)  Though admittedly, clothes to fit a midget with small hips, no waist, big boobs and narrow shoulders is a big ask.  image

Dove, my Taxus b. Standishii gets almost no sun (on NE slope, with shed on S side), but is gratifyingly golden.

Glad you're back on line, BL, and not savaged by wolves whilst in the wilderness...

Obelixx, hope the last minute things go well.  You'll soon be able to put your feet up and have a well-earned rest.

Sounds as if the whole world is windy at the moment; hang on to your hats, Fairy, Lesley, Pat and all!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Afternoon all.

    RESULT!!!!!

There are guys cutting branches away from the power lines going down to the local farm , so I went over for a wee chat. They'd be delighted to dump chippings off at my place. The place they have been using is now too waterlogged so their vehicles get stuck so they're delighted to have somewhere local to use which has a firm driveway. image

I've been planting bulbs all morning so thought a bit of lunch might not go amiss.

The week is half over folks. Almost the weekend.
