DD , o/h makes Fig chutney which we rather like , your jams sounds a nice combination , have you made it before ?image

  • Feeling much improved thanks Obelixx image to the extent I've been pruning the climbing rose of its dead wood whilst balancing on a chair!   image

Glad you found somewhere to take the books, sounds like a very organized move, you have prepared well, makes sense not to move everything then find out you didn't want half the stuff!

Hosta, don't think late shifts at work are good for your sleeping pattern, doesn't give you enough time to wind down, never helped me! No more listening to answer phone messages! image

Lesley, labeling? Sounds like a great idea! image It will never happen here which is why at this time of year, I sit down and plan on moving everything that's in the wrong place! image

Hi everyone. It's sort of funny, but of course logical, that we are also enjoying the moon. It was so brilliant! We watched it rising over the eastern range which is directly opposite the house.

Our usual differences are weather and season, but I hadn't thought of the obvious sameness.

I did a bit of weeding and pottering in the garden today, but there was a frost last night, so a few things were noticeable. I had put potato off cuts in pots and I noticed they were shooting nicely yesterday. Today, they are burned and shrivelled image I also have some young tomato plants in pots in the GH which are quite happy and I was tempted yesterday to move them. I'm so glad that I didn't.

no rain even though it has been predicted for days.

    Bed time soon.

I've tried fig jam and found it far too sweet but maybe mixing it with orange would sharpen it up a bit.  Love the idea of fig chutney.  What's it good with?

I've a cupboard full of jars or jams and chutneys from this year and last year and the year before which is why I did alcoholic damsons and blackcurrants this year.

Still no rain which is good as OH is walking the dogs.  Need to put on some scruffy clothes for the next phase of packing.  There be cobwebs - amazing how they proliferate at this time of year.

WW - we've offloaded stuff to furnish Possum's apartment and stuff to Oxfam and Trocs (2nd hand) but still have loads so it'll be one lorry for the house and another for the garden furniture, tools and plants which are multiplying.......

  • Yay!  I had to re-boil the mint jelly, but it's set perfectly now image

Spent the rest of the morning on the phone to OH's colleague boosting her confidence so she can tell the ex exactly what's what - doesn't even give her any financial child support, and is unreliable about contact - useless - him and his mother both image

Hello all, from a friend's Internet. My phone line is still down.

Thank you Runnybeak and Lesley for remembering my birthday. I've just been to the Birthday Thread, image, I'm very touched.

Fig chutney is nice with paté.

I've just read back, but too much to comment on and loads of emails waiting.

Obelix , fig chutney , good with cheese , cold meats & salads , hope move goes well image

  • Just put an apple and raspberry crumble in the oven. image

OH doesn't like the seeds in raspberries so had to precook and push them through a sieve first, quadrupling the effort needed to prepare it.  Some people!.. image

Evening all. Home from the hill. Long day, but I've had a shower, a cuppa and some leftover Bolognese, so it's all good. Wouldn't mind some of the crumble, Bob. No need to sieve mine....image

Grand day - chilly start, about 7 degrees, so perfect for  walking. Lots of blue skies, grouse, deer, waterfalls, craggy corries and stunning views. What's not to like?  image

Will sort pix later as I'm too weary. image

You've all been very busy and chatty. Let's  see - dumplings, wet socks, sore shoulders, chutney, rain, sun, childcare issues, back to uni, and the glorious Harvest Moon (played on the radio this morning too!)

    Did I miss much? image
