Nervous night with the creaking of a wind.-battered tree. . . . still very windy but it's dry.

  • Hello folks!  I'm back - referral for physio so will wait to hear from them.  I did a range of movements and only some very specific ones were painful which has established for the doctor that it's a soft tissue injury probably due to doing something at tennis image so no more tennis until the physio says so image.  In the meantime painkillers at night so I can sleep, some gentle exercises to keep the muscles around the joint from wasting and lots of sympathy from doctor as she could see how frustrating I'm finding it.  We are really lucky with our GP practice.  She even asked about Ma's passing, as last time I saw her it was imminent, but let's face it - quite a while ago now in the grand scheme of things.

Now OH has to get his bike out and go to the dentist.  We're getting our money's worth out of the NHS today image

Sorry to hear it's been so windy up North - it's glorious here, like midsummer ... sorreeeeeeeee image

  • Good morning All,

Good luck at the doc's Dove, I've had a bit of a dodgy shoulder for weeks and weeks, much better now but basically been told rest and time are what is needed. Let me know id the doc finds a magic cure. image

Well done on the DIY Fairy, I'm saving tokens at the moment for a new Bosch drill and electric screwdriver on offer, don't quite know what to do with them but I'm going to learn.image

Off to my Monday bachelor pad now for some cleaning and ironing, then a meeting about teaching after that. Get a restful afternoon but then Charlie arrives with a pal for tea and we're off to Hip Hop and choir, no time to get bored or feel sorry for myself. image

    Good day all. image

    Morning all.

Dove take it easy. DD, you too.

chicky. I'm very jealous, looks FAB.

Stopped the work van yesterday morning looking for a new customer's house. Another customer came out of his house and told me it was his Sister I was looking for, across the road.

He came and helped unload and we chatted for a bit , including his two little Poppets. As I was loading the van back up I said " pass my warmest Regards onto your good lady" He followed me out and told me she'd died in May. Septicemia.  She could have been no more than mid 30s with 2 kiddies under 5. I was so upset I hardly held it together as we spoke. It's been preying on my mind ever since. image

Life is short folks, make the most of it. It's not a dress rehearsal.

  • Oh Hosta ((hugs))  indeed - live every day as if it was your last.

The baker who supplies the farm shop is on his hols, and his stand-in doesn't do our usual sourdough, so rather than get in the car and drive (not allowed to cycle) to get some, I've made enough wholemeal dough for a couple of loaves and it's in a bowl proving on the table - I love making bread but only do it occasionally, otherwise we eat too much of it image   It's ok folks, hand kneading not involved today - I used the big Kenwood.

    Morning all.

What a terrible tale Hosta. Why is it that horrid things like that always seem to happy to the nice people.

Today is my last day of drinking anything but tap water. Do I try and wean myself off carefully or spend my day filling myself to the brim with caffeine and fizzy stuff? I'm thinking a massive blow out of milkshake, ginger beer, fresh hot tea... image

I did find out yesterday that I can't swallow my medication with plain water! I've always used squash to mask the taste but yesterday I was there gagging and choking and those tablets would NOT go down! Oh the embarrassment. In the end I had to stand there with a t towel under my chin and a piece of chocolate ready to chomp on quickly to take the icky away.

What a horrible shock, Hosta, I hope he is managing to cope with life and his children.

I'm another one with a dicky shoulder. Doc says I have chronic tendonitis and he told me I wouldn't be able to play tennis again some time ago. But this year it's been worse and I'm on painkillers at night. Trouble is the bad shoulder is the side I always slept on.
