Did a double-take then Johnny then remembered you are in Alberta!

6 degrees here in South Wales but feels very chilly (more so now I am imagining what -17 must be like!). Will be making a nest and watching Wales v Italy this afternoon.

8C today and started quiet and sunny but now the gales have arrived along with some very dark clouds but, as yet, no rain.    7mm fell yesterday and overnight.  None so far today but it's blowing a hoolie so maybe we'll get some later.

Definitely a hibernating and nesting and dreaming day.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

  • I hate to go out and shovel snow but there are several elderly people on my street that I need to keep their walkways cleared off. It's going to get bad, crippling snow fall warning south of the city and at least another 30cm for my area. But in a few days the snow will be melting, and I will be back on my bike. (knock on wood)

  • Brrrr Johnny, yes the best way to keep warm is to keep moving, fine if you are young and fit, but not so for the elderly, who I am sure appreciate your care of their walkways.

We had an exhilarating walk along the beach this afternoon, with force 6, northerly winds blowing - it was pretty cool and rough out there.  Twitchers were watching out for what they thought was a Royal Tern - which had been blown in from America and is a very, rare visitor.

Going to be frosty/icy tonight. I have a day off work tomorrow so it looks like I will have a couple of hours window between the frosty start and the rainy afternoon to do some more clearing in the garden.

Tremendous gales here today, no electricity for five hours but back on now, but still blowing a gale.

Poured this morning, howling gale this afternoon, still having gusts. Electricity has flickered but not gone off.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
