Stockton, N.E. What a day yesterday we had four seasons in a day after the bright start then lights on we got the weird orange glow before it turned into sunshine again and a temperature of 18C. No high winds a breeze would describe it, the west side of the country got hammered and we got away with a sandy spray, should be OK for strictly then with the strange orange colouring.
Great Pics from Argyranthemum we had the sun just like that at about 2:30 pm it was only very brief the rest of the afternoon it was cloudy but with this odd orange glow, all very peculiar. The day was so warm like a spring day but without that nice crisp air you get at that time of year.
A nondescript day here today, slightly damp but is o.k. for gardening but not for mowing - the grass is too damp for that. No wind, no sunshine, just dull.
As a consequence of the smoke from the Portuguese fires in the atmosphere, two planes (1 Guernsey & 1 Jersey) had to return to airports due to the smell of smoke in the cabin, why only two?
Just back from Galway, where we were "strongly advised" not to venture outside between noon and 10pm on Monday, due to Ophelia passing directly overhead. One lamp post was felled, branches off trees, seaweed everywhere... exciting, but not a lot of damage, thankfully. I wish I'd had my camera to photograph the "eye" of the storm, though - it was literally a circle of blue sky in the clouds.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Yes Frank - but because we were "confined to barracks" while the storm was on, I couldn't really take phone photos through triple-glazed windows (granddaughters & their parents live in an eco house, very solid!).
Yesterday was absolutely beautiful, by contrast, for my bus ride to Dublin airport.
Today in the Pennines started well, but is now rather dull.

Liriodendron, Next time we have a very clear day I will give you a wave. I live on a Hill on the long rise up to Durham from Stockton, if I walk to the top of our lane and look to the West across the Dales I can see the tops of the Pennines.
You need to buy a selfy stick Push it with the Camera attached through the self sealing letter opening and point upwards. Just a thought, bit late now though if it is a 100 year event as they keep telling us only it was actually 30 years.
Don't know about a hundred year event, Frank... in Ireland it was the first ever severe (red) weather alert for the whole of the country, and I guess they'll be hoping not to have another any time soon!
Ps: eco houses don't have letter boxes.
