Forecast said sunny by 1pm - they were spot on. Done some pottering/sweeping/weeding/cat poop clearing.

Guernsey I am so surprised that you get frost and ice being so close to the sea. My friend in north Cornwall tells me that they never have frost down there and really enjoys coming back to Cheshire for a glimpse of the white stuff. It is bright and a bit chilly here at the moment but certainly no ice.image

A friend sent photos of her view this morning, half a mile from here but on the hilltop (we're in the valley).  She was in bright sun with sparkling frost, looking down on the valley filled with fog.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Blue sky sunshine and ice, to a gardener that's very nice, gets rid of nasties and bugs, including those peskies the slugs. Jack frost covers in white, the normal garden winter blight. What is that hears a sound, open door nose falls on the ground, the north wind doth blow, we will probably get snow, up the heating a notch, where's that bottle of scotch, we should hybernate through winters woes.

Franks weather in Stockton on the icy Tees.

Joyce, I am noted for taking fine weather to Scotland, ten days in and around Inverness, ten days sunshine. Arran they wanted to pay me tp stay, had some good holidays there and also one of those lucky people the midges shy away from. I can come up for a small (not too small) fee.

    Frank.

Frank - yesterday was so mild and sunny that I sat outside with my coffee in the afternoon.

It's been unseasonably mild here but winter isn't over yet. I'll give you a shout when we freeze overimage

Never knew deep frosts to kill off slugs in the Belgian garden.  Like the worms, they just burrowed deeper to stay warm.

Colder start than yesterday at -3C but bright and sunny and warming up gently.   Gorgeous as long as you're wrapped up.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
