  • Here in Calgary it will get up to 20C today but in a few days the high is forecasted to be a cold -10C and snowy.  I have to get the ladder out and get the Christmas lights hung along the roof of my house and garage before the snow and cold.

Oh Johnny how do you cope with those rapid changes of temperature. I think that I would struggle.

Get your Christmas lights up straight away!

  • Yes, what a dramatic change - must be hard for the wildlife too, so I hope they have already built their winter dens and stocked up on food ready for the big freeze, Johnny.

A noticeable difference in weather here today. Some sunshine, some cloud and a cooler, luckily light north/east wind.  Has just started to rain a little now.

Sunny spells today in South Wales but bit chilly this evening. Currently it is that 'sky-blue-pink' as the sun sets.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

Woke up the usual time, looked at the clock which resets itself for time shifts and realised my body was saying breakfast time although the clock was saying it is only six thirty? What to do? I did try laying a while, the bedroom meanwhile lit up like a stage set what a difference going back an hour makes.

The sun is shining, the Coastal front is over the Coast, I can see the Hills across the Valley and it is definitely warmer at the moment, will it stay this way in Stockton N.E.? we will see.

    Frank.

Lovely sunny day but a cold wind - Lincoln

Just about to go to allotment , a bit of digging should warm me up image

  • We actually broke a record high yesterday but this morning we are sitting at 2C. Arctic cold front is coming. Will have to put an extra layer of clothing on for biking today.

  • Hello daydaisy and hello GurnseyDonkey,

This is a normal fall up against the Rocky Mountains, it can be tough on animals and the constant freeze and thaws all winter can be very hard on the perennials. The truth is my area has actually gotten warmer. We were hardy zone 3 but a couple yrs ago have be designated zone 4.

Well Johnny you have obviously learnt to cope with your weather conditions. I thought the UK weather was changeable but clearly it has nothing like the different climate changes you have. You are, I'm sure, made of sterner stuff than us Brits and use to all those fluctuating temperatures!

  • Yes, I am sure that you adapt to the weather around you, but that wouldn't be my climate of choice.  However the scenery is breathtaking and the summer when it comes is all the more precious.

Definitely a little cooler here, but not cold.  A nice bit of sunshine until about 2 p.m.this aft.and very little wind.  We try to keep Sunday afternoon for other things rather than gardening, so had an amble along the lanes and taking a look at wildlife and other gardens on the way.
