  • Agreed Aym....The colour variations of the purple of the President is fantastic.(It was amazing in morning dappled sunlight). Unfortunately the camera does not do it justice.

Some of the Penstemon cuttings are still going. I checked the mother plant for more cuttings but it has wilted somewhat. There hasn't been much rain and nobody waters it.

  • Some beautiful petunias on here, I too love the striped / stared ones:

The heavy rain has damaged a lot of my petunias, but these ones have soldiered through. And they were 50p for 4 in the sin bin too!

  • Aym280, all the flowers I buy are from the sin bin. I bought some bedding dahlias and snapdragons for £3 each from Sainsbury's, and apart from that, I haven't paid more than £1 for a tray of plants. It's great fun, choosing the least dead(!) plants, and seeing them come back - and necessary in a big garden! However, I've yet to have any luck with seeds. They all turn out like strings, looking for light in my north facing garden :-(.

  • Stunning photographs everyone, such a beautiful display on the thread. Not been around much and I have enjoyed catching up with this thread and all the lovely blooms. Not much new to show as the weather has been awful, battered and blown plants and very little sunshine over the last couple of weeks.

This was taken pre caterpillar carnage, not a single flower left on it now and all the leaves are decimated. I have left them to their feast.image

Can anyone remember far back in the mists of time on the previous 'my flowers' thread, when someone posted a pic of a low growing plant with tiny white flowers and a fantastic scent? There was a bit of a buzz about it trying to get a name for it and it sparked the interest of quite a few posters.

I picked up a packet of seed today and am wondering if it's the same one? I don't have the stamina to look back through all the thousands of wonderful photos, I'm hoping someone has a better memory than me image

I think Marion had a pic of it on her garden thread.

Thanks Joyce, I thought it was here. My sieve of a brain remembers it being a fella, and he wanted to move it closer to the house to get the full effect of the scent.

I'm really not sure now image

Ah well, I'm growing it anyway. Seeds down to 50p in wilko, too good to pass up.

I bet Hosta gets a load next week at 10p image (he's lucky with the bargains) image
