Ppauper - my window cleaner came today. I'd happily send him over, but be warned, the b***er leaves the ruddy gates open every time
doc - happy to oblige
Liri - lovely pic. You should put it on the camera thread too. You can tackle some of hills round Fort Bill next time you're up at the cottage
Off out to do a bit of painting - the bit of rendered wall on the 'stension this time. If I can find a clean brush and roller. Makes a change from fence timber ...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Funny your OH is allergic to cats.Dove, Hubby is too. They share a birthday you know.
Its dark here. I bought some sachets of cat food today. There was a free sachet of cat soup. That is soup for cats , not soup made out of cats. The lady on the checkout said her cat loved it. I don't have a cat, (see above), they are for the hedgehog. I wonder how he'll like cat soup.
Thanks everyone for anniversary wishes. Very hot on the slow M6 journey but at least I brought my shorts. (Look away now). Mum and Dad seem to be coping fairly well, given their ages,
Dd you sound very positive and Charlie will be such a help. Enjoy your day off and I hope there's many more to come .
I bought an agapanthus for Mum which has bloomed all summer here but my own has not come out at all. (Blxxdy midges have though).
Ouch Dove. Son & sil were stung by wasps on the same day last week. When I asked son where he was stung he said 'on the bowling green'. Turned out it was his arm.
Lesley, when I was a wee girl clootie dumpling was always eaten at birthday parties. Silver 'thrupennies' wrapped in greaseproof paper were stirred into it. No party bags then.
Big day for FiL today - he is moving in to a retirement flat. Absolutely the right thing to do, but shutting the door on a house you have lived in for 60 years will be tough. Mr C hasbeen down there helping out with boxes and sorting and generally calmingthe nerves.
Thunder and rain overnight has left us damp and muggy here, rather than refreshed. But at least it watered the pots for me.
Hope stings have stopped smarting, hogs have been visiting again, paint has dried to an acceptable colour, clooties have been scoffed and sunbathing continued away from prying eyes

7 hours of grass cutting to-day .
Very jealous of the heat some of you had. I almost put my overalls on. I was chilly. Can't have been any more than about 21C pah.
Hubby washed all windows, fascias and soffits to day.
I resorted to a swimming costume, and ice cream.

Got to about 20 here Hosta - that's as hot as I like it. Any more than that and I'm puggled
Got two walls painted but had to collect daughters so that was that. Looks a bit lighter than I wanted but perhaps another coat will help...

Beautiful weather today
It got uncomfortably hot during the afternoon.
Friend and I enjoyed lunch out and, as you didn't leave any cake Fairy, I had clootie dumpling and ice cream for my sweet
.
Hosta, friend said the Rossy ferry crossings today were on calm sea with Arran looking beautiful
The 'grass man' will be here at 8am tomorrow. . . in some places it's four inches high after all the rain.
BL, have a good journey tomorrow.

I'll remember more on the second re-read.
Joyce I thought clootie dumpling was for Chrxxxmas, or New Year. Never had it in summer before. Ahh, but we didn't know it was going to be summer
.
We were served Clootie Dumpling on the Isle of Skye at midsummer - it seemed the perfect dish for the weather we were experiencing!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
