My brother fitted a new gas boiler for me  yesterday. (Yes, hes a qualified gas fitter, on the gas safe register) Today he's coming back to sort the electric controllers out and connect the cupboard lighting in the kitchen. Handy that hes a qualified sparky too. it may mean I have no electrickery for part of the day, so have a good day folks.

Its wet here, saves on the watering time.

Oh cripes! A month or so ago our Dyson broke.

Not impressed we called their support and requested an explanation. They offered to send an engineer around but that it wouldn't be until 2nd August. (Can you imagine the dog fluff? I vacuum everyday!) Still we dug our the spare and expected to hear no more.

Dyson called back a few days later saying they didn't think the length of wait acceptable and so they'd exchange the broken one for a new one. Result!

Roll on to today and there's a garbled answer phone message from a withheld number which we THINK might be the Dyson engineer saying he's on his way. Due to the building work I haven't even taken the new one out of the box! I'm using battered old reliable Henry.

Good job I'm already off to await the plumbers.

We had a whizz-bang Dyson Animal Clari - I grew to hate the thing -  one day it actually made me cry, and I'm not the crying type - we replaced it with an £80 Panasonic upright like I used to have - it does a much better job.

I gave the Dyson to Wonky - initially she and her Lovely Hub were impressed by it's design etc - then they grew to hate it too - they've just replaced it with a Henry and are very happy with him .......... so many people I know have given up on their Dysons and gone back to something that is less stylish and technological but does the job properly.

    Morning all image

We had a decent amount of rain overnight (first for weeks) - which has perked things up no end. image

Overcast and mizzly just now so an opportunity to get some things sorted inside before I go out and plant some ferns in a dry, shady patch & pop some rudbeckia in the gaps which opened up after some more enthusiastic pruning and cutting back yesterday.

(Oil) Boiler man is here doing the annual service at the moment. He commented on the slight fumey smell in the utility room as soon as he walked in. It's elusive and disappears when you've had a few sniffs or leave the door open and I've not been able to convince anyone there's a problem before. It's not CO or anything nasty - just not particularly nice to smell. Maybe he'll be able to sort it this time!

Huge hugs for BL. I had a year when it seemed that every month brought news of a friend, relative or close acquaintance either becoming seriously ill or dying. It was dreadful - relentless and exhausting. Trying to provide friendship & support for others more in need - all the time feeling like curling up and licking your own wounds for a while.

I hope you are also receiving some support right now BL. Get in touch if you need to talk image

Edit: I still love my Dyson - even if it is a beast to lug upstairs. Only vac I've ever owned which really shifted cat hairs off the carpet. And I quite like taking it apart every now and again - weird or what?image

    Hi all.

So much for summer, wet and foggy here.

Time to get the seed catalogues out.

    Have a good day.

Dove; ours is the whizz bang animal one. It's the only one that seems to shift dog hairs easily. It's far too heavy for me with my broken bits and since his lordship choose it he gets the job of lugging it around for me!

Topbird; his lordship enjoys the mechano aspect of it too!

Dyson man has been and gone. Poor chap apparently they've lots of new service team members and we're not the only ones to get this.

Plumbers fueled with coffee; dog watching them carefully through the window!

BUT BEST OF ALL! The blue Tits are using my new feeders at last! They're pigeon proof and in all fairness do look like a cage / trap.

As Joyce said, you'll have all the wonderful memories of your friend. Take care x

    Morning all.

It's now been raining , without stop, for over 24 hours.

Hubby once threw a client's Dyson down a flight of stairs in rage. He said he was happier to buy her a new one than use the Dyson. She was thrilled, she hated the Dyson too.

We have a Panasonic upright, but ,although it's a great hoover, it's kinda loud, so we use Henry. He's much better at weaving between chair legs and under furniture.
