Gorgeous day  - why do I have to be at work  image

Bright eyed and bushy tailed here Joyce! Well, as near as I can get to that at my age  image

Good sleep was had - including several hours on the sofa.... image

BL - I heard Charlotte saying that too - he really must be a banana!

I reckon some of those plums will still be there when I come home for my lunch chicky - if your two are anything like mine....image

Have a great day everyone - whatever you're up to image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Morning all image

Yesterday I noticed the hedgerows had that slightly honeyed golden tinge that signals autumn's on it's way.    At last my tomatoes are reddening, we're deluged with cucumbers and pattypan squash and the autumn raspberry canes are weighed down with fruit

It's nice to have friends to visit, but it's nice to have the house to ourselves again and things back to normal.  Except it's not quite normal as OH is off work until Friday because he's covering a colleague's Sunday shift - so at the moment it feels as if we're on our holibobs ... and the weather is lovely ... might plan another expedition some time this week ....

    Good. Orning all, hi Patimage

Lovely plums chickyimage.  Gorgeous day again for the dog walk ( no welliesimage) but the car's going off for service and MOT shortly.  Could be an expensive day.

Shame to miss most of the weather at work Fairy - tell them you're knocking off early as weather like this should be cause for a national holidayimage

    Have a good day everyoneimage

    Morning all.

Another lovely day here. Not a cloud in the sky and a nice breeze.

Sprinkler in hot tunnel, not ideal in there but I haven't got time to stand giving it the drenching it needs. Coal face duties later. image

Another hedgehog visited last night. Smaller than last week's.image

Morning all. Warm already but forecast says storms will be coming.

Here in Dordogne there are a lot of private swimming pools, you see them when flying into Bergerac airport! I have one. Sometimes I wish I didn't. Earlier this year the water went dark green, took over a month to get it right. It was OK when the grandchildren were here, having spent a fortune treating the wretched thing and vacuuming it. Now its ancient sand filter has sprung a leak. I haven't even swum in it yet. Will have to replace the filter, more expense.image I suppose part of the trouble is the pool is very old, every year something seems to go wrong.

Lovely plums, Chicky. I never get any, the birds and hornets get them.

Orning Lesley, afties Pat, morning everyone else image

Sunny day here but a few clouds to keep the heat down - so will probably be shed painting duties today. Could think of nicer ways to spend the day but it needs finishing.

See there is some rain forecast (60% probability) for Saturday. We have had no rain for the last 2 months apart from one day of light rain - so there will be no complaints here if it materialises.

Must get on - SYL - have a good oneimage

Lizzie, I have to say, when we were looking to move down here , we discounted any property with a pool. Just a hole in the ground to through money into.

I'm tempted to do some research and see if I can modify our lake to become one of those " natural pools" where the plants do the filtration, but I think I'd need to spend a fortune on the right plants.

Hosta - my OH would love a swimming pond and I would love a little jetty to sit on with feet dangling in the water while enjoying a glass of something long and cold.

Unfortunately our garden is not large enough to provide the right setting for such a feature - but I've got my eye on the field behind us... image
