Lovely pictures, @steephill. I disturbed a deer in the garden last night when I took the badgers food out. Only saw its eyes reflected in my head torch, but nothing else makes such a crashing in the undergrowth.

13 Siskins & 4 Bullfinches on and under the feeders this morning :) As well as the usual army of House Sparrows & Goldfinches.
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

  • Hi, I need help with this beetle. Is it one I can let go to live a happy life, or will it devastate my pot plants. Thank you, Valerie
  • I am unsure of the exact species, possibly a species of ground beetle. Whatever it is I am sure it is carnivorous and therefore harmless to your plants.

Possibly one of the rove beetles, but yeah it's likely to be beneficial.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Thank you @wild edges @Alan Clark2. I have given him a feed of honey and water, he was very hungry and I shall but him back where he was earlier. Valerie
