Spent part of this evening pricking out lettuce by the back door, I was kept company by a beautiful little Leaf-cutter Bee building a nest in the wall.
We both finished at just about the same time, her efforts were considerably more neat and accurate than mine 😊
Gorgeous photos everyone, and that's a real bonus shot @Sheps. Beautiful. I've never seen one - don't even know if we get them here. I've been enjoying seeing all the various bees and hoverflies recently though.
The first Red Admirals too, although he wasn't playing ball and sitting nicely for a photo
Some from the end of last month : 'where's me tea?'
the daily ablutions
and from earlier this month
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
The red admirals are early. Usually have lots of small tortoiseshells by now, but I've hardly seen any so far this year. A few peacocks though, which are usually the earliest ones we see here. The sparrows are always entertaining Shame about your feeders. I don't feed on the ground or in the open through summer. The only feeders are in the bird cages, which only the smaller birds can access. The pigeons still come in to use the pond though. I just went out to take a pic of the peony, and there was a pair of goldfinches - one on top of the conifer singing away, and the other one having a drink. Took a couple of pix so I'll sort them tomorrow after I get home from my walk.

So far this year I've seen Holly Blue and Common Blue @Fairygirl sure I've had something else but can't remember what it was.
Yes, a real shame about removing the feeders, at first the Pigeons still wouldn't leave, but when I removed the bird bath that did the trick.
I really feel for the birds, especially the baby Goldfinches that had just started coming and even more so after removing the water supply in this hot weather.
Crap picture I know, but I'm super excited to have my first hedgehog! My gate got adjusted this year as it was getting wedged on the concrete beneath, and now hedgehog can get in 😁. I never thought in a million years that I'd get one on my new build estate.
Now you have one coming you can build it a feeding station, so you can feed in all weathers, and even into winter. It helps to keep other things from eating the food too @Crazybeelady .😁 This grainy picture is of one of my two visitors this year.

Great to see Red Admiral, I will keep an eye out from now on.
Lovely little sparrows too, unfortunately I've had to remove all the feeders from the garden for the time being.
I was overrun with Feral Pigeons and Wood Pigeons making way too much mess and leaving copious amounts of poop all over the garden.
They have moved on now, so will give it another couple of weeks then reintroduce the feeders.
