Likely to be a peacock @purplerallim, as they overwinter and appear early I had one the other day who disappeared as soon as I went for the camera, but then decided I was reasonably friendly as soon as I sat down Either that - he was sticking up the middle finger at me
I had to laugh at the magpies on the shed too. I imagined the one on the left said something like this: " 'sake Kevin. Haven't you heard of social distancing? Now p*ss off back to that other garden...."
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yes - I saw one a few days before that, but only it's underneath, and very fleetingly, but I was fairly sure that's what it was as he/she was so dark. Lovely wee things

Yesterday sitting in the sun pricking out seedlings when a big bumble bee came buzzing around the compost bag looking for a nest site I guess, then I noticed a what I thought was a small bee with a tiny bill like a hummingbird, I did a web search to find it was a "Bee fly" a parasitic fly disguised as a bee, quite common apparently I wonder if it was following the bumble bee to parasitise the nest?
HELP! Does anyone know if glass fibre insulation would be damaging as a nest lining for little birds? The builders stuffed some in the gap where the verge pointing (?) has fallen out at the edge of the roof, to stop rodents etc. They are intending to return and replace it with cement when possible. Starlings have been throwing the insulation about, and I've picked up lots of bits from the lawn and thrown them away - but this morning I watched a goldcrest collecting lots of little bits, presumably for lining its nest...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
A few tears ago I hung a brown teapot up in my quince tree in the hope that a bird of some kind might fancy it as a des, res" It was the "in" idea at the time, A couple of days ago a blue tit was busy checking it out. It ha only taken 4 years for them to even consider using it, perhaps I should have used a pretty, flowery bone china teapot!
Well-done, @Joyce Goldenlily ! You say the blue tit has been inspecting your "nest-teapot". But have they actually made their nest there?
You write "A few tears ago ..." Hope those tears have dried up by now.
Finally got my bird box camera to work at night so I can watch the great tit snoozing The baby monitors are wireless and scamble the signal so I have to turn them off to get a decent picture.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
