They mate for life too, which is rather lovely I hope the two returnees don't get any hassle. That's what had bothered me when they'd disappeared. There's a load of them at the local park which has a large pond, and I don't know if they've come from there initially. They can be stroppy, but usually just when they have young, so who can blame them. I don't think there's ever any problems with the ones at the park, but they have an island in the middle for nesting, so I'd expect that helps.
Nothing can compete with a swan in my book. We lived really close to them when we had our narrowboat. This pic was taken about this time last year, their mating is really tender and caring.
Thanks. Someone used to live inside that bridge apparently, back in the 18th centruy. The door is tucked inside the archway. All I can tell you is that it wasn't a very fat person that lived there
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Just seen a long tailed tit at the bird feeder. It had helped itself to a ‘buggy’ suet bit, and was hanging from a branch by one foot, while nibbling at the buggy bit it was holding in it’s other foot! Cute.
They're just a delight @Ergates aren't they? I seem to have a pair. They're always in together. They definitely like the fat balls I have at the moment.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I think I replied on your other thread about your wee frog, but I might have imagined it. I can't keep up any more!
I'll 'see' your frog, and raise you - some swans, because they're back at the pond

The jackdaws were enjoying a mucky bath too
Poor old Dave had the hump when I got back

Maybe they went in and out sideways....
Lovely pic too @Jenny_Aster
They weren't at the pond today when I went past. I'm starting to feel like an anxious mother
