he looks good. I love frogs. Have you seen the story of the frog who defends his eggs from wasps by kicking them off? He stands guard over them. There is also the strawberry red frog who unfortunately is being wiped out in the rain forests due to them being depleted.
I had one of these wandering about today. Tiny but the brightest green you ever saw! I wasn't sure if he was friend or foe so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
That sounds gruesome to say the least. I feel for the frogs I hope you gave them a nice burial. I usually bury birds and animals and wish them well. It sounds extremely sad to say the least.
Kingfisher - in your garden - that's a pretty visitor to have nutcutlet. No humming bird hawkmoth here either, ladybirds were earlier in the year. A shortage of caterpillars but no shortage of flying ants, or flies now we have the cows in the field.
Think the hummingbird hawk moths must all be in my garden - every night for the past week I've seen at least 4 at once! They are particularly in love with the verbena bonariensis and the agastache. I just adore them.
I've not had many butterflies at all this year - well, lots of cabbage whites, but very few others. Such a shame.
But my wildlife moment of the day - rescuing a bumblebee from imminent spider death as it was caught up in the web. Sorry spider.

My cats have often gone for frogs, but they make a high pitched squeel. They've never killed one, just brought them home.
humming bird hawkmoth missing here as well.
more ladybirds during the winter than there are now
But we did see the kingfisher for the first time in years
In the sticks near Peterborough

Plenty of bees, bumblebees and butterflies but few ladybirds or greenfly for that matter.
