I think it is a four banded longhorn beetle - leptura quadrifasciata.

    Thanks @steephill.
Sorry to here about your loss. Having gone through it recently myself, I have been surprised how much I have felt it.
How can you lie there and think of England

I had a sparrow hawk visit the garden this afternoon.

Unfortunately it had caught a house sparrow and jumped up and down on it a few times which was pleasant!!

I took a video of it and I swear it looked into the camera a few times.

Here’s a still from the video. Excuse the quality as I was sitting at my desk and it was raining outside and I took the video through the glass of the french doors.

Here are some terrible pics of spiders. I discover it's hard to snap them at night with a torch in one hand a phone in the other when they and me are upside down.

    Any thoughts are welcome.

I’m sure there will be an arachnophile lurking in here somewhere @fire

Todays' moment. Why am I showing you such a messy picture of my veg patch?

Well the deer hiding at the back of the veg patch has been lying around digesting breakfast for a couple of hours.

Then this little fox came along, limping badly with a damaged back leg. It wandered along to say hello to the deer then went back to a favourite spot for a scratch and snooze.

When the deer moved in next door to us, a lot of local people were concerned that she would not get on with the foxes. Not only did they tolerate each other, she played with the cubs. We think she has moved on this last month, probably looking for a mate.
Last night I had a buzzing in the window. Obviously big, I couldn't catch it so I switched the light off and it settled. An elephant hawkmoth. No idea how it got in the house, as I haven't been in much recently and the windows and doors have been closed.  I got a photo on the phone, but no idea how to get it on here from there.
