Our current "mother " fox still has one of the youngsters from last year, and her sister from a previous year who did the babysitting last year is still around. Daddy fox is conspicuous by his absence at the moment. Our solo roe deer doe is still around. The blackbirds line up in the magnolia in the morning like something out of a horrror film until I throw out some seed.
I had two Droll yankee feeders come crashing down on to the patio and smashed the tube. They have a lifetime guarantee even though I've had them for years and years. Jacobi Jayne are sending me two replacement tubes for the cost of the postage.
I was serenaded by this dipper along the river today. He didn't mind me getting fairly close either. They're normally very shy but this one must have been keen to hold his territory.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Gorgeous pix @steephill and @wild edges. I caught a fleeting glimpse of a dipper walking beside one of our burns which crosses the nearby golf course, a year or two ago. I did get a few pix when I did a walk in the Pentlands some years ago. They're quite used to people round there. I got an order of bird food yesterday, and to get it over the threshold for free delivery [only needed a pound or two] I got one of those jars of peanut butter for the birds. Rigged it up and stuck it against the fence. This one of a pair of robins that seem to be getting 'friendly' so hopefully they're looking forward to nesting season.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I once spent many days in the company of a Dipper that became very confiding. I watched him/her collect material and build it's nest. I must have taken hundreds of shots.

Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
