I sat by my pond having put some fish pellets into the water and enjoyed watching a frog watching me watching it, several damsel flies, turquoise and vermillion mating and laying eggs and watching the hundreds of tadpoles whizzing around feeding on the fish pellets. There seems to be at least 4/5 different sizes of tadpoles, some look as if they will soon be sprouting their first legs while others are still quite tiny.
This photo still was taken from my wildlife camera showing my swallow that’s nesting in my porch. From my calculations, the eggs should hatch this weekend, I’ll be glued to my camera then. It will be the first time I will have seen chicks inside the nest so I can’t wait 🤞

Is this the one nesting on the bat? I hope you can get some good pics of that nest when the chicks are older. I bet the RSPB or similar would love to feature photos of that.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Yes it is @wild edges 😀 We have three pairs, we call these the bat swallows 😂
We also have our original ‘normal’ swallows who have chicks that should fledge this weekend and our third pair that we call the light swallows as they have built 4 shallow nests on a strip light in our carport and have laid 1 egg in one nest and 2 eggs in another nest 🙈 She was incubating both nests so I’m not sure if any will hatch? Luckily it’s the two nests on the right so if they all hatch she can hop between both nests to feed them. Fascinating behaviour though!
Lots of bird activity here … Mr Woodpecker feeding his chick, he was pulling up big fat grubs. Just as well they’ve got a hammer like beak as the grass is rock hard. The photos aren’t very clear as they were taken through the kitchen window!

If you know my garden pictures and was wondering why I have bamboo canes without any purpose amongst the beds. This is the reason:
I have all in all 5 bird baths for all sizes. This is one of them.
I'm glad if I can help with a proper start in life. Don't miss the water drops to the right
I ♥ my garden.
