  • I love badgers. They're worth the hassle in my opinion.

Sell the idea to me, lots of dug up plants, lawn and two fences to replace at the moment
  • I saw my first Barn Owl today driving home - perched on a post having a look round with the moon above - very beautiful creature. I am sorry I was not able to take a picture though.

Maybe I've never experienced the full devestation they can deliver.

At my parents garden, we found that they tend to dig up the same patch of ground consistently. So you have a sacrificial flower bed haha.

It was at the end of a long wildlife garden so not much of a problem at the time.

Good to see bumbles (buff tails?) taking early pollen.

It seems that some bumble colonies now over-winter in the South of England and continue to forage right through. Plants like mahonia, hellebore and winter-flowering clems are enabling them to get through.
  • I’ve certainly got bumbles on the Clematis ‘Freckles’ and the hellebores at the moment. 🐝

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • My mahonia is in full bloom right now, you can smell it even a few meters away from the plants. There are indeed a few bumblebees enjoining the flowers, but I feel like it’s not as many as they used to be even three years ago. Location Surrey.

Saw my first bee of the year today 😊🐝 we're in Shropshire. Not sure what kind of bee it is...

Saved a white tailed bumblebee today. It was very cold this morning and the poor thing was just sat there, no energy. I made some sugar water for it and it sat drinking for a few hours, by which time it was warmer and it flew off.😁
