Normal service is now resumed... visitors left, washing done, house tidied, concerts sung, grass cut. It's clouding over now but was a beautiful morning for garden pottering.
Best wishes to you and your friend, LilyP. Hope you see some improvement soon.
Lesley, Joyce and Fairy - sorry your gardens are struggling to catch up. We are a good fortnight ahead of what is usual for here, especially with the soft fruit. We are all so weather dependent.
We've got an unpleasant invasion of house flies, coming down the chimney in the living room. I guess a baby jackdaw must have died in the top of the neighbouring (unused) chimney, where they nest every year, and been infested with maggots. Luckily the flies make a bee-line (fly-line??) for the window, so we're just leaving it open as much as possible. Don't want to use fly spray...
Right. Time to get some serious reading done.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Afternoon all. Done a few chores and have plans that as soon as my back will allow I will oil the garden furniture. To keep them clean they live under a black cover; I don't think it does them any good in the summer heat. Hopefully the teak oil will work some magic.
I also need to pot up my bargain bin sea hollies: I didn't expect them ALL to take and I've not a final place ready for them yet.
I can't find my welding gloves to try and tidy up the "holly tree" that I want to see if we can turn it into more of a ball on a stick than hideous molten mess.
I'm afraid you'll have to wait a bit longer for cake, mr Dewdrops has asked for a belated birthday cake at the weekend, on account of him eating and drinking so much rich food in Italy this last week or so!
Since I've not been on cake making duty I have had a fairly slow day. Walked to the Drs first thing, talk of maybe having nerve issues or arthritis in my jaw which is causing ear pain, really hoping it isn't, I've already got arthritis in my hips and I'm only 32! I don't want anymore yet, thank you.
After the Drs I took Mum out to look at Dobbies, home bargains and B&Q. I was very restrained and didn't buy anything.
I accidentally had a three hour nap this afternoon. Kept dreaming about gardening!
Just been talking to my Dad and going through the logistics of sorting out a 60th birthday present for my mum, which only leaves something for my brothers 30th, which is the day after. Lots of big celebrations this year, my dad and MIL turned 65, my brother got married, my first neice was born, mum's 60th, brothers 30th, and my mum and dad celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary later this year! It's all go here! My poor brain is worn out trying to come up with special gifts!

Totally guilt-free tennis. . . . raining.
