Severe weather warning been issued for this area covering tonite and tomorrow, bad thunder storms with a chance of 30mm-50mm of rain in some places.
Joyce you're right autumn is a beautiful time in Scotland i do so love those first sharp frosty mornings. However today it is sunny so must do something to make the most of it. Mmmm any suggestions?
I could not agree more bushmen 2 , I every year visit scotland and have done so for the last 37 years, I can safely say thers no other place in the world like it, This year for the 4th time shall be visiting Isles of Skye middle of october, I vividly r ember 19 82 in September it snowed overnight and to see the tops of mountins covered in snow the sun shining brightly in a cloudless blue sky was never to be forgotten happy memories
I'll give them "good time". In a bout of fenzied slipper minding Wren has chewed yet another bit off! She doesn't usually destroy things but obviously this morning my ten minute absence dealing with Asdaman was too much. After he'd gone I sat down for 11ses and was presented with one of the guinea pig's carrots pinched from the fridge, no doubt, when I was lifting out the milk! She's asleep now...nobody move!
I waited ages at Birmingham airport in arrivals. Three quarters of an hour later my friend appeared. No bag. Travelling light? No, the bag went to the original destination of New York.
Its a good job we are both approximately the same size.
Waiting in for a phone call to see if they have found it. Its too hot to do anything other than peg washing out, so relaxing in the shade. Lots of drinks in order today.
By jove it's hot out there. Been playing in the shade with Mabel. She's been making tea and stew in her play kitchen. Needless to say she is now wet and muddy and my garden and conservatory definitely need a bit of a tidy.
The sun has moved round now so we've moved into the lounge where it is much cooler to watch 'Jake and the Neverland Pirates' what an exciting life I lead. Just about to eat fish finger sandwiches for lunch to complete the experience.
Stay cool folks. It's definitely not a gardening day.
I've used all the water in the butts on the toms, cukes and all the other pots and left the hose running by the grapevine and rhubarb. The terrace is too hot to walk on with bare feet. The temp in the shade is 32.9C The doors and windows are wide open and I'm flollopped on the sofa with a tall glass of ice- cold lemon presse
CLARI!!!! Is that gazebo ready yet?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
It's so strange to read that you are all having some summer heat at last. We made about 18c today I think. More firewood cutting and hauling back. The fire hasn't been allowed to run out of wood since before ANZAC day. I'm hoping that we don't have a fierce summer this time. I get fed up with moving hoses and filling the water tanks from the bore.

Back from the funeral. I would have said it was a lovely service if it had been a wedding. Sad. We went back to my friend's house afterwards.
37°. Off to watch "Escape to the Country" and "Garden Rescue" in the sitting room, which is the coolest room in the house.
Right. I have ripped up the carpet from the lounge and acted all girly til the man at the recycling centre helped me unload the car
Then I remembered the huge parasol we have! That and bed sheets hanging off the washing line services my shelter for the day.
I really ought put the lounge back to an acceptable state but maybe later!

Time for bed (again). Nearly midnight.
