Tony Blaah - weasel words from a weasel person! I noticed he managed to do that affected wobble / broken voice thing when he was 'apologising'. I despise him.
I was thinking about David Kelly too. He seemed such a gentle quietly spoken man torn apart by politicians.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Back in the day, we bumped into Robin Cook MP in the queue at Edinburgh airport. When we got alongside, I excused myself and said I was glad he taken the principled stand over WMD.
I remember saying " if only more MPs had the same integrity"
We chatted briefly but he seems genuinely touched by our short conversation.
I remember all those years ago talking to a client saying:
" right, so let's just go "best case scenario " : a marksman gets into Saddam's palace, finds him, and with one bullet , kills him. What next? Who is going to take over? his sons are bonkers, and the Shias and Sunnis hate each other, so what happens next?"
Shame our politicians didn't have the same conversation.
Morning all. Sun appeared briefly this morning so that's promising
I've been listening to the accounts of parents, husbands and servicemen in the mornings and it is appalling. They didn't have equipment because it would look as if they were war mongering! I ask you. They are the Armed Services. Doesn't it make sense that they should be adequately armed and protected? They shared body armour. Read that again!
Between that and The Somme commemorations.... the powers that be have a lot to answer for.
Mother is still here and I treated her to a big night out. We went to the local auction!!! My favourite. Her's??? Not so much but I think she's smitten now. She "had her eyes opened" apparently. She never understood my dad's fascination but I think she gets it now. Heaven's not a place, it's the people.
The "bake" word was mentioned yesterday in a call to arms so we may have some gingerbread and buns action later...here's hoping.
Good to see you flitting in and out DD. Start packing little things and moving them now. I stashed books and personal stuff in my mum's spare room. Things that would be easy to forget in the heat of the moment.
When I left I didn't have much room to put things as I was in student digs - but I made sure I took loads of photos of the children, the good table linen, my best knives and whisk and the chopping board made for me by my son when he was a schoolboy ... priorities!!!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hope the garden-visiting Forkers have a wonderful day, and Wonky's headache disappears very quickly. Photos please!
Dove, I think you're right about Pansyface finding this font easier to read. The problem is the size of font she sees when she's typing, which is why her contributions are in capitals. So maybe I don't need to shout any more...
Good to hear from you, DD. Great advice as usual from those who know what you're going through. x
Absolutely agree with the Tony Blair/Robin Cook/Charles Kennedy comments. Talk about "power corrupts..."
I've just heard that my son-in-law came 29th out of 450 runners in the "Lakeland Fells" ultra last weekend (fell running, 55km - took him 7 hours something). I think he's completely mad, but am very proud of him too... can't run anywhere myself these days.
Raining. Got to go shopping. Blah.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

There's still not been an inquest into his death http://www.inquest4drdk.co.uk/
