That's a cracking expression Yvie! It was exactly that here too
Of course, it came on while I was concreting in little support posts for the new bed edging...
Some gravel shifted - sore hands and arms now. Think I ordered too much, but better than not having enough I suppose.
Lovely rock cakes Lesley - thanks very much but what's everyone else having...
Lovely to see you ..briefly..DD. Yes - it will be fine-once you catch up with yourself. We'll all be here to give you sympathy and support whenever you need it xxx
obelixx - if you look back in, I posted a couple of pix of that Ligularia you fancied on the Garden Pic thread.
Fidget - perhaps the ballerina was Dutch, not Russian, and they were clogs....
Just saw your post Joyce - it's a technical term...honest!

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yesterday I offered a trailer full of logs to my neighbour which he accepted and as I was pulling out of the garage he drew up so I followed him up the lane. All fine so far. After we'd unloaded them he said "come in and see the new baby". I said "Go and ask if it's ok. I don't want your missus being mortified under a pile of ironing and baby stuff when you march me in!"
Pp - I had a friend who had a boy slightly younger than my oldest. She was always saying to my girls 'boys are stupid, don't have anything to do with them'
Rain's off, so I suppose I should go back outside and shift more gravel...

When Possum was a tot I was in a mum's and toddlers group. One NZ woman had a daughter just a few months older than Poss and everything was fine till she produced a son two years younger. Determined to treat him the same as no 1 but found he was a different species altogether. Mind you, he did take after his father.......
OH learned a long time ago not to surprise me with unannounced guests because he might be embarrassed. I always have the wherewithal to rustle up a meal but might be up to my armpits in muck and mud in the garden or covered in paint or dust doing some DIY project or else the kitchen looks like a sewing sweatshop.
Not a lot of Possum's chocolate beetroot cake left but I have tested it and it's lovely and moist and very chocolatey. Two of her male colleagues complained it was too chocolatey! Not proper Belgians then.
Thanks FG. I'll go and have a peek.

We went to the birthday lunch, outside, lovely views. Most of the guests were French but the birthday girl (27, again) is English. Lots of food.
Tigger had a shower, hosepipe from kitchen with a spray head on it. He hates being carried and I'm no longer strong enough. Nice lather of doggie shampoo and he was amazingly good in a resigned sort of way, but I know he wasn't really enjoying it. He liked the towelling bit and bore patiently the brushing. Doesn't like being brushed.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
More chair painting to do here and then more sorting and by then it might be a bit less dull and grey and miserable and I'll enjoy a potter outdoors. Pots to water, hostas to deadhead and seeds to hunt.
