Afternoon all, Shame about David K.  The photo side of things is pretty pants on the new forum, not good, especially as it's one of the things we all wanted improved.  We have to upload poorer quality photos and can't get as close to check out the plants as we used to be able to.  ID'ing things is a real casualty of the upgrade.

Really hot here, I'm having to go out a do a bit of gardening and then come in for a cool down.  Hubby is out basking on the sun lounger, don't know how he does it.

House is an absolute tip but can't be bothered with house work it's just too warm.  Not that I'm complaining, it's about time summer arrived.

Firstborn is off to their villa in Menorca for a month on Friday so no grandaughter cuddles for a very long timeimage will need to make the most of tomorrow (my last day on Nanna duty before they go).  Nevermind I'll have more time to spend at Secondborn's cuddling baby grandsonimage.

Cut loads back in the garden today.  It looks so much better for it.  Discovered a couple of plants I had forgotten about under the early summer perenials.  Think it's been a great year for roses so far, but geums and delphiniums haven't done as well.  All my alstromeria have been eaten by the army of slugs and snails that have invaded the garden this year, never had so manyimage

DD, don't worry about leaving your garden, creating a new one will be fun and I'm sure you and Charlie will enjoy it.  Look forward not back.

Clari, it looks like you are going to have to eat a lot of ice cream if the freezer is on the blinkimage.

Hello, I'm back - hair cut done and don't need new glasses and no signs of glaucoma or mac. deg or any of that stuff I have to keep an eye open for image

I managed to buy myself a new outfit too - didn't intend to, was only looking - must have had a sticky label image

Sorry to hear Pdoc's still poorly - positive vibes and lots of ((hugs)) to him and Mrs Pdoc.

Sorry too to hear David K has gone - the photo thing is frustrating - having bought a good camera, it's annoying that I can only post from my phone at the moment, but I know they're doing their best to sort it out.  As I think has been mentioned before, Daniel is only a Demi-God - there are bigger and more important Gods up there on the Olympus that is Immediate Media Mountain who make big decisions and hold the purse strings - he and Nora do their best for us - as gardeners we should understand the importance of being patient.  imageimageimageimage

  • Sorry to hear about your cat Obellix.

I managed 5 miles before half twelve, but then fell asleep for nearly two hours at half one. Whoops!

Will try to go out and do some deadheading later on today, when it is a bit cooler. Can't really complain about the warmth, it's nothing in comparison to the 40° we had at the family home in Cambodia when I was there in April.

Just a quick peek in,  I'm on Nanna duty.

    Plus on my phone!

How very sad that David K has left.  Can't understand why all his lovely photos and advice have been deleted. His sweetpea thread was very helpful.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.

I've got a bit of a technical problem - the power cable to my laptop appears to be kaput - I'm running out of battery power - OH is going into the city tomorrow so will pick up a new one for me, but until then I'll have to post on my phone ............. image

I have received an email from David to explain about why he has left, but I see you all know anyway. I was in the supermarket, enjoying the air-conditioning, 36° here, so didn't see his email straight away.

Nora messaged him to say that he was becoming very disruptive and if he carried on she would have to remove him until he could contribute more postitively. Naturally David was upset as he can't post his beautiful photos as he could on the old forum, so he asked her to delete him. So she has done, but that means that all his posts and photos from all previous threads have been deleted. We have lost all that advice about Sweet Peas and photography, can't refer back. Such a shame.

I wish they had never touched our old forum in the first place. It worked fine.

Afternoon all. I need to go and do some shopping when it cools down.

Sorry to hear about David. Didn't gel with him personally but I do not understand why he felt the need to have such drama and have his account deleted rather than just walk away. We are using this forum entirely free of charge. We have to accept the powers that be when thry try to improve and future proof things. Yes it would be lovely if we weren't taken out of our comfort zones but since they've invented the wheel let's just roll with it.

I /might/ be off work tomorrow. I'll find out in the morning. I can't see me planning much anyway: is Yorkshire meant to get this warm?

At least David didn't do a great farewell and then re-appear image So I can't see where the drama comes into it.
