Congratulations on the prizes GWRS. Good chish & fips in Cleethorpes I'm told
Steve - welcome home. We're doing an extended trip to the North Cape when OH retires in a couple of years time. Short way up - very long way back down. Can't wait to go and see some fjords. Did you do the Hurdy Gurdy cruise?
Fairy - Now what did I tell you before about picking up young men? Can't take some people anywhere Glad you had a good day!
Sorry Joyce but it is really quite warm and close here. About to go and do the watering. I may be some time....
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Glad you enjoyed Norway Steve. We once had a camping holding day there - many moons ago - and loved it. Scenery was absolutely breathtaking.
Spent the morning in the garden, which restored my mojo - keeping away from the news for a bit did me no end of good. My four year old dierama produced its first flower spike. And its all looking wonderfully flowery out there. Currently lying in my hammock watching the bees work the last remaining foxglove flowers - happy days
Think wintersong was driven away by some nastiness - I miss her wit, and her fabulous garden
They had enough petrol to go about ten miles. That wouldn't have got them along the glen to Kenmore, where I reckoned the nearest petrol station would be (although the last bit's downhill!) and there isn't one in Killin, the other way. They were going to go along to the little shop at Innerwick ( five minutes away) to see if they knew what was nearest. If it hadn't been for the forecast being dodgy I'd have taken them along to Kenmore or Aberfeldy to get some. They weren't there when I got back down so they must have got something! They had no petrol can either or I could have given them some. Daft young lads, but very nice
I did have a look online when I got home and there's one at Fortingall, at the east end of Glen Lyon, so they probably went there, although I expect someone at the shop/post office will have helped them out.
Congrats to your OH GWRS
The pix of the kestrel came out quite well. Here's one to be going on with
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Steve , we have been on a cruise with Fred Olsen to Scandavia 3 times and it is fabulous , glad you enjoyed it , last time was to see the,Northern Lights
I've spent the whole day in the garden - only just come in - we had our lamb and apricot tagine in howls in our laps sitting out on the grass watching the frogs in the pond and the swifts screaming above us.
The lawns, front and back, are tidy with neat edges
After mowing, edging, titivating and watering I got the sunlounger out and lounged in a shady spot with a book ............ it must have been at least an hour and a half - I was just nodding off when OH came home and found me - he'd brought some local cider home - I was a bit late serving supper
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
No chance of 'sun lounging' here - chucking it down again. Grass will have to wait...
I've put some other pix on the camera thread. Kes and the other two were a delight. I had a lovely walk - might revisit that one again and go right along beyond the summit and come back over the end too. A frosty or wintery day when the ground's crisp, as it's one of those hills that's all peat bogs and heather tussocks.
I'm sure they were a country duo in the 70's...
Missed your post chicky. Hope the hammock was comfy. I miss Wintersong too

Sheps has just informed me on the camera thread that my 'kestrel' is actually a young Merlin. Brilliant!
The other two were very red/brown on their backs but I assumed they were all kestrels, and that one was just younger. I think that's why there was a lot of noise and the others were swooping about so much.

Topbird, we went on Britannia, not as posh as our last Cunard trip but we had a suite so it was decent enough!
Well done GWRS - trophy sounds good

Welcome back Steve. I looked up those gardens, they look fantastic and the restaurant sounds goo too!
I've weeded half of the upper middle bed this afternoon, had to wait for the sun to go behind a tree, it was hot and sunny.
