  • It's probably how he sees every country and he's not wrong. If we leave eventually, we'll still have the choice between the two lots of idiots. Nothing will happen e changed, other than there's now little stopping them doing what they want.

That was always the tories main problem with the EU. Oversight.

Well here we go - a roller coaster ride for sure. It will be something to keep people talking about - either pro or con - for many months.

I think it perfectly reasonable to comment on the politics of other countries, providing it's done based on research and not "knee jerk" I find Obelixx's comments to be well balanced.

Didn't many of us complain about the politics in Apartheid South Africa, or comment on the lack of women's rights in places like Saudi. Aren't many of us commenting the prospect of Trump being president of usa, and the antics of Putin, or the lack of human rights in China, or the corruption in India?

    Obelixx, you carry on.

I'm fairly alarmed I have to say, but I can't see it bothering me much either way.

I read this morning that 75% of voters under 24 voted remain.  Let them be the judge in the long term.

  • I don't suppose it matters really unless you are...........

A young person looking to make a career here.......

A middle aged person looking for job protection.......

    An elderly person with savings................

A business person wanting to export  or import................

    A houseowner.......

    A farmer........

  • Also, another question, please.....

When does the extra £350 million per week for the NHS actually start to take effect ?

The £350 million that was written on the side of the bus.

Is that like writing a cheque on the side of a cow?

Richard - the bus has gone back to the depot....image image

I agree with your previous post. It's swings and roundabouts, some will benefit, some won't.

When interest rates were 15% back in the eighties, my mortgage payments were ludicrous on a tiny little flat. Now, when I no longer have a mortgage, they're non existent! Those with no mortgage and lots of savings were delighted in the eighties though!

Things change, for better or worse.  Isn't that what happens in life in general....image

That's democracy. Your considered, well-researched vote has no more or less value than that of the bloke who  hasn't checked which end of the pencil to use.

I'm afraid, this thread and the tone it has taken, has disappointed me deeply.

Had the "leaves" vote lost, I doubt that they would be hissing, booing, insulting, patronising and belittling, let alone, demanding democracy is broken and ordering a recount!

Listen to it! Really!?! "My throw if the dice wasn't fair, it didn't come up with a six!"

Seems like the remain camp would prefer their very own dictatorship!

THE SIMPLE FACT IS...THE OUTCOME WAS THAT THE LEAVE CAMP HAD MORE VOTES, Even though they tried to manipulate the public with fear and manipulate the register deadline in order to rally the troops.

Whilst all the remains were patting themselves on the back for being ever so tolerant, hmm...it would appear that a lot of people in this country have nothing!,

The Tories ignored inequality at its own loss, the masses got angry. Arrogant assumptions of the poor  being disenchanted with the political process were, wrong.
