Hi guys, if you'd like this thread to remain open, can we try to keep this thread civil? It's very off-putting for other members of the forum. Appreciate political threads provoke strong opinions, but let's try to keep level-heads... Thanks!
We got to page 15 before anybody came on to metaphorically slap our legs (actual slapping wouldn't be allowed any more). I think that actually says a lot about how well behaved we have been - most of the time
PS. Love the 4 Yorkshiremen script. I remembered part of it, "getting up before we went to bed".
It occurs to me that there may be one positive effect of the close vote.
Those who thought that it wasn't worth the effort to vote in elections might now realise that if they want their voice heard, they need to take their part in the electoral process.
Some of them might also be reflecting that the unthinkable can happen. The increase in overt racism would indicate that far right sympathisers feel that they have been given the nod by the electorate.
We would only have true democracy if the party system was banned and MPs banded together and disbanded based on issues not on party loyalty. The first anti-democrats up against the wall for a smack on the legs would be the party whips and next the lobbyists

The referendum being so tight was always going to throw up problems which ever way it went
