Got soaked again trying to weed the jungle and plant out more slug food - lettuces, beets and fennel.    Another Japanese maple has died so that just leaves me the two in pots.  Hope they don't get whatever lurgy it is.

There's a wee joke on Belgian Facebook.  Four Hungarians go into a bar and ask for 4 coca cola lite.  Barman says "Sorry, no lite but I can do you 4 Zero."   Boom boom.   Sorry, wall to wall football and now tennis too and no escape on the Beeb.  Maddening.

Making a  rhubarb and lemon cake to have with coffee tomorrow and then a pavlova base to have with strawberries for pud at lunchtime.  Garden group chez moi tomorrow. - Brits, German, Dutch, Belgian and Japanese.

Fairy, yes we put the whole world to rights - for just a few moments absolutely everything was perfectly fine - the some of those other *****s screwed it all up again image

HIS lordship appears to have a very bad cold. Were it not JUNE I'd go so far as to suggest it might be flu. I'm upping my vitamins and trying to disinfect everything. Looks like tomorrow (Day off; yay!) will be spent scrubbing. I need to get out into the garden and pot up a few things although lack of suitable homes might be an issue.

Ob You've just reminded me I forgot to harvest my strawberries this evening. The blackbirds seem to think them their personal buffet.

Lily - did you mean Kitty's 'oak furniture'? She was having a bit of fun because there's been lots of spammers recently trying to flog us some. image

There was one earlier this morning - think Clari reported it. image

Just watched England lose to Iceland , terrible !!! At least the Manager had the decency to resign but the players have to except some responsibility

Well done to Iceland , must watch them next Saturday playing France

It was definitely the players on the pitch and not the manager wasn't it?   They are some of the highest paid "professional" players in the world aren't they?

I'm not fussed either way as I dislike football but OH is disappointed to say the least and said it was a shambles.   He hardly ever swears but tonight he let a few choice expletives slip.

Wall to wall tennis now for 2 weeks and Olympics still to come and rain, rain, rain.   What a summer we are having.

Our flight home tomorrow has been cancelled, French air traffic controllers on strike. No places on a flight until Saturday, means another 4 days holiday! image Our friend who is house sitting sounded quite cheerful about it, she is happy to stay until Saturday. We'd planned a light microwave ready meal tonight as we were getting up early, but instead have been out to yet another beamy old pub. I had fish and prawn lasagne and OH had fish and chips.

Today I cleaned the cottage from top to bottom and washed the sheets and towels.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
