Hello all, Back from my marathon working week (well a week's worth of work crammed into 3 days). Lovely people at the wedding though and not too difficult, just a lot of time. The groom gave me a bottle of champagne as I left last night to show his appreciation, always nice for your efforts to be recognised. image

I have been teaching today and arranged for a 'guest speaker' to come into the lesson for them to practice their English. They loved it and we had some real giggles at some of the things 'lost in translation' Somewhere along the line one of the students had misunderstood that my guest had married one of her grandchildren and her son was a 4 year old (my guest is easily 70. image

Anyway, nice to sit down at last and have a read back, also enjoying a piece of fruit cake left over from Sunday. image

Lilly P, I feel so sorry or your friend, she must be so low to even think of trying that, such despair and hopelessness is so sad. I do hope she can get some professional help. Such a difficult thing to deal with for everyone concerned. image

Hosta, you must be building up muscle as well as losing weight, you'll be quite a pin up soon for those tractor drivers going past. image

Dove, glad you are feeling a bit better, your comment about thunder made me smile, last person I heard use that expression was my mum and she died in 1985, brought back a lovely childhood memory (because of course I was only a tiny babe in arms in '85. image Thanks for postcards too. image

Right, tea break over, have to make dinner now, no idea what I am going to do, haven't planned properly at all and not sure what I can concoct out of a packet of prawns, a squidgy lemon and an over ripe red pepper. image Risotto possibly... image

    Good evening all. image

Evening all - I've had a lovely day.

Drove up to see a friend at the coast who insisted on taking me out for lunch at a rather good beach cafe right next to the golden sandsimage

She lives round the corner from an excellent old fashioned fishmonger so I've brought home a couple of crabs for tomorrow image

She is a gardener and keen plantswoman so we pottered round her garden (between showers) and then she insisted on giving me rather a lot of bits of plants / seedlings etc imageimage

Too much gadding about lately - think I'll have to settle down & do some hwk & other household chores tomorrow - found a very large cobweb stretched across the shower cubicle today image

Very sad news about your friend Lily P - she sounds to be in a desperate place right now. Nothing you can do but be there and let her know you love her. I hope she receives the help she needs.

Well done on shifting all that stuff Hosta - no wonder you're sleeping a bit better!

Have a grand evening everyone - SYL.

Evening all. I'm not political - but the news today has really got to me. What the **** is wrong with the world? After last week's slaughter in Orlando, I'm starting to think the planet's going to self destruct.

And those cretins ( I can't call them football fans ) in France can't even behave themselves when they're in another country to watch some sport.  They're an utter disgrace. Shame on them.

    Rant over - sorry. image

LP - so sorry to hear about your friend. I really hope she can get the help she needs. You must be very worried about her.

Take care of that knee Hosta. We don't want you making it worse before it's better.

Gorgeous pix T'bird - I haven't had time to look at Yvie's properly yet , but they look terrific too. Love the robin pic as well. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

No robin at the moment, it's thundering and lightening and bucketing it down. His new worms are due tomorrow. Between this mornings persisting and tonight bucketing, I managed to get 18 cleomes in. They are about a foot high at the moment. Do I pinch them or leave them if I want them for cut flowers?

  • Evening all, just got home from work as the skies opened up again. Lovely husband had chilli waiting for me though.

LP- I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. Are you ok? Mind and the Samaritans are very good at helping those affected by family/friends suicide attempts, so if you need someone to talk to don't be afraid to contact them.

Hello all. We've had a lovely 2 days in Norfolk so far. Went to Houghton Hall yesterday, gorgeous walled garden, 5 acres, and a stately home to visit. We went to Bressingham gardens today, went last year in July so different plants flowering. Been lucky with weather, sun and cloud, 21° then rain on the way home.

My flower bed at our cottage is looking lovely, grown a lot and the plants in the 3 big pots on the patio have grown and are still alive, in shade most of the day.

Is there a thread for gardens we've visited in 2016 or do photos go on garden pictures?
