Just come back from a walk with the hound: only two miles today as the tarmac is heating up quickly! Do be careful if you have dogs with this heat their feet can get burnt!
I'm off to a Volunteers Walk later in Rotherham; guaranteed to time it perfectly with the thunderstorms predicted! I seem to remember last year we had our raincoats and brollies up!
Misty but warm with a hint of clearing to sunshine. Giant thunderstorms moving in from the West (this IS the West) but no sign yet so I'll give the grass another skelp!
My daughter (first of 4, 2 of each) is 40 and I'm still 27.
My garden is starting to recover after all that rain. Just took a few photos. It rained a little in the night but not heavily. A gardening day today, if the rain keeps off.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Joyce! I would love to share but I barely have enough energy to function at the best of times and the medication I have to take I wouldn't wish on anyone!
Dad's doing well thanks Lesley - shuffling around a bit more quickly on his "boot" and crutch, and no recurrence of any of the stroke symptoms. His foot is going to take at least 6 weeks to mend (probably longer), and he has an appt at the stroke clinic at the end of this month ......which, given it is a full month after it happened, is telling us they are not too worried
Best wishes to your convalescents, Chicky and Linda. Hope they behave themselves and make steady progress.
DD, I hope your next guests are more appreciative! And that your garden preparations don't cause you too much anxiety. (I'm sure it'll be wonderful by the open day!)
Thanks for all your congratulations re the prize draw; I feel a bit guilty, since all I did was write my email address on a piece of card and drop it in a box, not answer complicated horticultural questions or anything... Photos will certainly be posted. If the plant supports look too posh in my "informal" garden (that's the polite description - see the "Gallery of Shame" thread for enlightenment), they'll make a wonderful Christmas present for my son & daughter-in-law.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Best of luck with the open gardens DD, and as for your guests, there are some very ignorant people around.
Awake with the dawn this morning, always seems to happen at this time as year. Managed to get a few hours planting in, now far to hot, so going to recline in the shade.
Have a good day.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
