    Hi all.

36 hours and 4 flights , and I am home.

Truly outstanding holiday, in a wild and beautiful country. 4 different camps, in totally different environments, flying between them in 6 seater planes, and landing on dirt runways, in the middle of no where.

No internet, no phone signal......... fantastic!!! Meant I missed the result, until I reached London. I don't think I have ever been so upset about a political decision, since I was old enough to vote, and that includes the misery of living under Thatcher.

A few close scrapes with the wild life, including a large bull Elephant coming in to one of the camps during the night, and nearly crushing the tent!

About 2000 photos to sort through, and then will hopefully post a few, although I am aware that other people may not be as excited with my holiday snaps, as I am.

Will probably not read back, so hope you are all well.

Particular hugs to DD, I saw your news, and I am very sad, although not surprised. I have never met you, but have been amazed by your energy, and passion; you will survive and prosper.

How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

    Sounds wonderful, punkdoc.

When we came back from Papua New guinea last time, we had four flights and 36 hours of no sleep. I can't sleep sitting up. We got home and went straight to bed. At some point I woke up, looked at the wardrobes, and said " do you know, this hotel room has the same wardrobes as we have at home"

I still think that most of jet lag is lack of sleep. The only time I have got off a long haul flight and felt decent was the time I had a meltdown when I checked in at LA , was told the seats we had booked had been given to someone else, despite this being three hours before take off, and we ended up being upgraded to business. Lie flat seats.  Eight hours of sleep in a twelve hour flight. Bliss.

Good to see you Pdoc, sounds like a wonderful holiday. So glad you had a great time. Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Kitty what type of solid wood do you mean? And where abouts (roughly) are you?  I could PM  you a couple of places.  They sell solid oak.

Welcome home Punkdoc.   Hope the weather isn't a shock.  At least you won't have jet lag.

Drismal out there today and cool and draughty too.   Woken up early by man come to fix drains.   No mains drains here so rainwater on the rear half drains into our pond and the front fills a cistern and a well with an overflow pipe that runs under the field next door and into the stream that flows through it.  The farmers have recently dredged the bottom to deepen it and so drain the paddock but blocked our pipe while they were there so with all the recent downpours, water backed up and flooded the barn.   Not good.

All blasted clear now with an industrial pressure hose and I've been and banged in a taller post to mark our exit pipe for future excavations.   Now to weeding and potting.  So many slugs my baby beets and salads are going to have to go from plug to pots to grow on in safety.

I hope you are all warmer and drier.
