imageimageHi, its getting more difficult to find them now the plants are getting taller, but I do hear them snuffling and see them facing each other. The food is always eaten but not until much later in the evening. Here are photos taken this week, no hoglets yet but hopeful.

Spotted a big one by the back door on Friday night. Not long after the cat came in and his head was covered in fleas! Never happened before. Took 2 hours to pick them all off followed by an application of flea killer. Is it likely that he sniffed at the hedgehog do you think? i know hedgehogs often have fleas; poor things. I wonder if it bothers them. Put some more food and water out, and locked the kitty in!

Tootles, it would be very unlikely that the hedgehog gave your cat fleas as hedgehog fleas don't live on cats, dogs or any other pet it's a different type completely. I guess it's possible that they could have hopped on before realising they didn't like the taste of your cat image does your cat visit any other houses?

Bonsai how many do you have feeding? Perhaps you have a little family out there now!

Well I never see him or them. I'd have to be out there waiting

I have an outdoor Infared motion sensor camera Bonsai that I attach to a tree, it's brilliant for night time stalking! image

Also in more recent news, last night I went out to let the puppy out for his 2.30am pee and there was a hedgehog I had cared for last year which disappeared around November! I was so pleased as he looked incredibly healthy and much bigger than when he roamed off (I was worried I'd need to overwinter him as he looked below 600g and must have missed him by a day for bringing him in to the rescue!). Whoop! I had checked and put food out up until the 7th May and then given up hope!

I've tried that with a spare smart phone.sort of works

Came face to face with him last night. He scattered off so I followed and gave more food... Then left alone

    He.likes the new food.its seems. A mixture.

  • I have been lucky enough to see three hedgehogs. Have put out a mixture of cat food, sunflower hearts, mealworms and kibbed peanuts. The hedgehogs have been clearing the bowl every night and appear about 10 -10.30 pm. No hoglets seen yet, but I live in hope !
