Hello , got home late on Saturday and finally saw Harold the Hedgehog , so pleased , first time this year image

  • i just saw an old lady stop her car outside my house and saw she was picking something up... it was a hedgehog

presumably one that visits my garden but strange at 8am although could have been there a while and any cars either avoided or rehit him.

i did the decent thing and went out to the lady and took from her, i will bury the fellow later today in my garden. unsure if these means no more hoggies to my house or if this was just one of (possibly had 2 visiting and eating)

    RIP

  • edit, either it wasnt my local fella, presume was but confirms i have more than one visitor... smaller hog eating tonight

Brilliant GWRS! Did you manage snap a quick picture? image

Terrible sorry to hear that Bonsai, the poor little guys have everything pitted against them in modern day.  Hopefully, he or she has reproduced and you will still get visitors well into Autumn, especially if it's mild at night. Although last year was an exception, I had mine here until late November - managed to get him fattened up for hibernation, which wouldn't of survived otherwise. British Hedgehog Preservation Society have been in contact with new posters that I'll be putting up around my area. Is anyone else interested in spreading the word? Saw plenty of people reading them last year. They are about the upcoming bonfire season.

  • Well I've had an off.spring or brother etc still visiting so I likely have a couple visit

But yes could be only one now I'm sure the bigger one I buried was my mate. Food not gone last night but was the night after

Discovered neighbours were clipping my leylandii hedge on their side of the boundary fence and just dumping them at the far end of my garden?.

However a Hog or two have taken advantage and nested there?.

Built covered feeding station with 10cm entrance and feeding with ferret food. They are visiting every night and clearing the food till only crumbs left. Have actually caught them feeding, strangely enough around 9.30 pm most nights. Know they do not have to cross any roads to get to food, even then I live in a very traffic quiet location. Happy days for all concerned.

  • ive had only once a week since the death  :(

  • rarely see a hedgehog now, has eaten twice over weeks

such a shame my mate was visiting every night and got caught in the road.  his family member just doesnt want to visit as much
