Found a hibernating hog under a bush early this spring when sorting out the pruning. I hasten to say that pruning was halted until it came out of hibernation! I am going to buy a hog house today and, hopefully, he will return this autumn. I will place the 'house' as close a possible to the bush it used before. There are signs of at least one around our garden and I suspect there are some hoglets looking at the poo. Fingers crossed.

Hi Maisie...not sure how much you want to spend on a Hoggie House, but I can recommend the guys at Riverside Woodcraft, I have both a Feeding Station and a Hedgehog House made by them and they are top quality.

My Hoggie was in the Feeding Station last night munching on Hoggie biscuits and a few Mealworms.

Quite right too - although our hedgehog has to make do with a plastic box in which to eat his/her dinner image

Couldn't believe our eyes this evening when we looked out to see not one but two hogs tucking into the hog biscuits ? not sure if they're mating, one seemed to be 'stalking' the other, fair bit of snuffling going on too!  Is it too late for breeding now?

As it's been milder Fifs, litters this year have been earlier. It's possible for up to 3 lots in one season if the weather stays like this till late Autumn. However, hedgehog mating is very often unsuccessful so that could also be why. image

Sheps, can you tell me what the lids on your feeding & sleeping stations are made of?

    Looks very posh !

Hi AnniD...looking on the website  http://www.riversidewoodcraft.co.uk/54-hedgehogs   the lids are made from recycled plastic.
