Thanks Mark .... I'll do that.

I like seeing the badgers ... but NOT in the garden as they can make a terrible mess of the lawn. So I'm hoping that by setting up a hedgehog feeding station I don't encourage any badgers to visit us.

Also, I keep bees and badgers claw at the front of the hives and also try to knock them over to get at the larvae .... so I really don't want them to come into the garden.

No worries Bee witched, I brought a bee/insect house today! Has anyone been having any little hoggie visitors lately? image

Oh wow Zenjeff image It seems like you have a keeper with that one! I'm sure he appreciates your contributions, well done! Sometimes I can sit on the edge of the decking silently and have them snuffle over to me for their cat biscuits

Just a heads up guys. Hearing lots of stories of hogs falling into ponds or water features and although they are excellent swimmers, they soon get exhausted and drown. Please make sure you have a ramp for them to get out.

Also seeing lots being found in bins, they suspect it's because of rubbish bags being left opened around and seen as desirable homes by the hedgehogs. Please be careful forking over compost heaps for the same reason. Thanks!

    Hi

I have just signed, thanks for all the info.

I have been feeding the hedgehogs every night all through the winter, but over the last month the food has been going before 9.30pm and I put more in the bowls inside homemade feeding boxes. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't feeding the neighbours cats, so I walked round the garden with a torch to see.  5 Hedgehogs, 2 large and 3 smaller ones all running to find which feeding box is vacant.

3 Hedgehogs in 1 box does not work.

That's brilliant news Joybell, thank you so much for sharing - it's brought a massive smile to my face. There's nothing more enjoyable than seeing British wildlife. Still waiting for mine to return - no luck so far but still putting down food nightly. Fingers crossed! image
