Marc, if you post a picture of said poop I will confirm for you whether or not it is indeed hedgies. It sounds as if you have a clan over there, send some my way
Rach anything that shelters and protects from wind & rain will suffice, mine are also a huge fan of the piles of logs, leaves and other garden waste piled up behind hedges and shrubs. It'll also act as leaf mould eventually.
Susan well done for constructing one - the effort to help means a lot. My only advice would be to place it against a wall, fence or garage to stop cats and foxes using their paws to drag the food bowls out, as this has happened to me on several occasions. Obviously leave a big enough hole so the hedgehogs can get in.
Oh dear, poor little hedgehog. We noticed her out in the garden after the heavy rain, thought she was making the most of getting worms after such a long period of wet weather. We left a dish of cat food on the lawn just in case she needed feeding up. But today it just looked as if she was flopping about on the lawn, we put her on the patio and while she shot off at a rate she kept stumbling.
i rang the vets and they just told us to take her in. Daughter just back and she said that if she's ok then we'll be able to pick her up, but if she's not then they will be taking her to the hedgehog rescue centre.
Poor little one, well done to you & your daughter. They do sometimes emerge because of a large downpour, either to drink from puddles or because their nest has been disturbed by the rain. However, you definitely did the right thing seeing as he was delirious the next day. What a wonderful vets too, ours here usually euthanise without any attempt to help, for that reason I always head straight to the hedgehog rescue centre. Keep us updated
Mine are eating dried cat food, but if it gets wet they won't eat it, as the wooden Hedgehog boxes are getting rotten. I am going to get the plastic boxes and make a hole in them.
bumped into my boy last night before i put food out, i wasn't actually going to put out last night so its not too much of a habit and also looks elsewhere and doesn't rely on
but as he was here i fed him on the ground and finally got a video

Yes now we know they are using it we are going to move it to a more sheltered spot.
Perfect, isn't it so entertaining watching them emerge? Wonderful creatures.
It is hog poo I've seen him once do it as he enters box for dinner, has poo then eats dinner and leaves
I even put my arm in it as slid arm in hole to put food in. Now I do the proper way and take lid off. Correct way.
Possibly more than 1 hog but I'd have to set up a camera system to catch then.... One day

Will do. The large hog is still round, the food has gone from the hog cafe.
Celadonsusan hope the Hedgehog gets better soon.
