  • Pear and plum tree arrived today for the garden project so soaking them for now - not meeting up with main man for a week and a half  so may have to sort out area before then as they came quick

Popped to plot and had a look around as it was raining over night ground boggy and lots of puddles on the road in the pot holes

GWRS I've been growing two pear and two cherry tree's into fans. Didn't get any fruit this year but the cherries were caught by a late frost.

I'd like to try espalier but wouldn't know were to start with the pruning.

Sounds like you had a productive day scroggin.

I've been laying a path and extended a couple of beds. The strawberry patch was given a tidy and I pulled up alot of runners.

Picked some leeks and more chillies to freeze.

  • Lots going on today

Finally got some digging done on my plot, today only a small area - fed the birds was cold out

Scroggin I got an email about the trees the next day the trees turned up not even a chance to track parcel -  think calendula seedlings are coming up on my plot too

Zoomer is you path paving slabs or bark?

Zoomer , espalier , don’t really known what I am doing but going to give it a go image

Gardengirl pumpkin cake sounds nice , never grown them , must have a go next year , Village where Allotment is has a Village show in September , never entered but have they have an entry for Largest pumpkin ?

Day at plot , o/h put last of onions in , planted Broad bean & peas under clouches

As ever a bit of weeding and other jobs

Also emptied 2 compost bins , on one bed , unfortunately compost had horsetail so put it on one bed that has it also , next year wont plant anything in it and keep spraying , won’t get rid of it but hopefully keep it under control . Will move compost bins to other end of plot next year

Hope you are all keeping well image

  • Calendula takes over my allotment every year, I don't mind, the flowers are very attractive and line the edge of the plot, I also have a friend who takes them away to make soap and other cosmetics.

I grew calendula this yr, it seemed to flower for months. I'll be pleased if it's self seeded.

I get alot of foxglove, it's easily recognised and seedlings take well when transplanted.
