GWRS that makes sense, nice thick plant climbing frames then, with my free water butt I now have the stand it got droped of in the crate front of house goodie
Hope to go to plot at weekend lots to do, they have ordered my scaffold boards so will wait till they get them at the allotment, visit to the shop needed for canes
Got a £20 voucher for Wyevale for complaining by website about there being no bulb talks in Hampshire garden centres - which is so good lasts a while so will have to decide what I would like - got my bulbs now
Hi all, not been on for a while, busy at home. Went up to the plot last night and came home with 2 large bags of produce, still picking tomato's, squash, beans, cabbage, kale, chard, carrots, raspberries, now onto the celery and celeriac. Made a huge pot of soup that should last a week. Been giving the courgettes away to work mates. Will clear my butter nut squash soon, as I want to get some onions in, dont seem to have much space yet!
Made roast butternut squash and tomato soup with a hint of chili for a starter for a dinner party, we then had pork in cider with my home grown sweetcorn, yum!!
Apart from some seedlings not germinating , the only disasters this year have been my potatoes getting blight, onions not drying out properly and some rotting. everything else has been fantastic.
Some people have given up their plots and new people on site. Met a Russian couple who had been on the list for 10 years!! they were very sweet. I noticed a family who started earlier this year and doing a good job, have not picked any of their veg, yet someone has been back with some decking boards to make raised beds, so not sure if they have left. I wonder if people realise what a commitment having a plot is!
could do with some more tree shredding for our paths GWRS, not had any this summer and the heavy rain in June washed a lot of it away.
Local stables seems to have stopped putting muck at side of road, been past a few times this week, not one bag.
GWRS, I had a similar problem with raspberries, they'd taken over the plot when I got it. If all the roots aren't dug up they regrow. I replanted a few and now have two manageable beds, one autumn and one summer fruiting bed. Not sure about pruning though, so I've left them for now.
