Gardengirl , we sowed some more chick peas direct into the soil and noticed today some are coming up

O/H put entries into village show today , she had been sorting out jams etc today and I have been at the plot weeding , now up to date

Hope everything is ok on Friday ready for Saturday show

The allotments have been going for 10 years on the 20th so going to a meeting at Village pub to celebrate ?

Have you decided on what sort of cake to make ?

Nowhere near ready for show on Saturday. Stuff either  small or getting over ripe.

I've help on Friday to pick stuff, but no idea how to show it. The plan is to take pics for next year and if it's not looking good Friday just to enter cakes for that section

Zoomer tips in my show booklet -

Shallots put on to fine sand spread on a plate will enable them to stay in place

Onions uniform, well-ripened bulbs of good colour with thin necks are required. Tops must be tied with uncoloured raffia, roots must be trimmed back to the basal plate. stage onions on card board rings

Rhubarb stems wipe clean, stalks should be straight, long, tender and fresh with developed colouring. Top foliage to be cut 3" /75mm

    image

Beans place in a row on the show bench. They should be cut from vine with sissors leaving some stalk attached  - Peas same as beans

    image

Not sure if currants and gooseberries are same as blackberries - show the stalks, leaves may be used for decoration

Strawberries unsure may need the leaves as well

Not sure if pictures coming out may try again later if they have not - hope info helps

imageOnion in front, shallot on sand plate in back

imageRhubarb in the middle like that can't find it on plates on own only with mixed veg

imageBeans as you can see they break one

imageFruit they display in a circle on leaves for decorative effect

imageTable with fruit near front and more for you to see

Take note of what others look like when entering in the morning if in same category to help you
