Hi all, back from a 2 week break, mainly spent in the garden, or on the plot, so had a great time and got a lot done, especially in the garden, as we had a 100 yr old cedar removed a few months ago image so had to level the ground and get rid of loads of chippings etc. Garden now in full sun thoughimage so thats a bonus, and a good excuse to make new flower beds.

Plot is looking great, had plenty of beetroot, a few peas (that make it home!!) soft fruits and courgettes. a few spuds had blight so dug them all up to rescue what I could. All the other produce needs a little longer to fatten up.

Great day you must have had GWRS, never done a veg show. Will be interesting to see if I get another prize for best allotment this year (been keeping it extra neat image

    Happy weekend everyoneimage

Dug up chard which had bolted and came across a long, white curved maggot type thing with legs, any suggestions what it could be?

Harvested onions and shallots, picked some radish, lettuce, toms and cues.

Sunflowers just seem to keep growing taller, the variety should have flowered at 5ft but must be 7ft plus now.

Neighbouring plot is over run with weeds, the guy grows in the middle and has let weeds grow at the sides...

Gg. Yes, it's a chafer grub. Will check them out further but they seem to be more of a problem on lawns and grass, eating the roots. I do have some grass paths and it was also near some rotting weeds I'd left on some plastic to dry out before putting on the compost heap.

What luxury not just having toilets but water too...image

GWRS . If I'm making jam or jellies it's from freshly picked fruit, didn't know you could use frozen fruit, would it work for currants and blackberries, it would make sense...
