Not sure how or what to do if I go to the plot and the new neighbours are there, may try to get there this week, think it is going to feel weird as they took some wood of mine - not sure how to react - other than saying hello
GWRS got to Feb in the Terry Walton allotment book
Do you want to raise the issue of the wood? Because if not, then a friendly hello would seem like a safe option. If they ask about the wood, you know you are in the right and can politely and firmly point out that it is yours. (I know, easy for me to say!)
If you do want to raise the wood issue, perhaps you can decide how to do it once you've met them? It's impossible to figure out what approach to take if you don't know whom you are dealing with.
It sounds to me like you are worried that they will mind you took your wood back? Even if they did, you would know they were cheeky blighters and as such no people whose feelings you would need to consider. It is your wood. They stole it. You have it on record because you contacted the site rep, so that's good.
I know what you mean by things being in one's head - my next door neighbours have recently built a huge grill on their tiny patio and have been grilling several times a week. I have to keep my windows closed and I shudder to think of summer. They are definitely not people who would take kindly to being asked not to be inconsiderate, but I guess I'll have to do it. (And now I've hijacked your comment, sorry.)
It's a difficult situation. Plot holders aren't allowed on each other's sites here. They would receive a warning letter if they did without permission first.
I had a crow bar taken by the last plot holder who had the top half of my plot and told one of the reps, who sent a diplomatic e-mail to them. I got it back and a general e-mail went to all plot holders reminding them not to go on each other's plots.
You could let the council know youv'e taken your wood back and choose your moment if you want to raise the issue with the plot holder.
Hello , Gardengirl need to say hello to plot people next door and see what they are like , you could slip it into conversation , if you felt comfortable that you had some wood go missing ? And see what they say ? Best of luck
Good news my potatoes have just turned up , ordered via allotment association but was only 2 of us ordered stuff so the committee are not going to do it next year
Terry Walton , just started October , hoping to get up to plot Saturday
Sowed more pea's on kitchen roll, different variety. The first lot already have tiny shoots, must pot them up at the weekend.
The propagator hasn't been switched on yet but I've got Aubergine's, chilli's, peppers and two varieties of tom seeds I'm hoping to sow at the weekend.
Hi all, sorry to hear someones been pinching your wood GG, we had a complaint on our site recently, someone helping themselves to bricks off one of the plots. A notice was put up on the notice board at the site entrance, and the plot holder has put a sign up on his shed
Had a few hours on my plot yesterday.Started some of my early (Arran Pilots) in tubs and sowed some peas in some guttering, all in polytunnel. I have lots of broccoli and cabbage plants ready to go out, just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit.
Spread 4 bags of lovely well rotted chicken manure over all the beds and did a bit of digging. All looking very tidy and ready to go!!
