I had a poke in the compost bin that I'd started in October and was disappointed to see that the stuff didn't look like organic stuff that's magically turning into compost but simply like organic stuff that's been left lying around for months. I know there's no reason why my compost bins should be singled out as the bins where normal decomposition processes don't happen, but right now it looks like it!

I'm so sore from all the digging I did this weekend, but it's in a good cause.

Aster2-a bin I checked yesterday wasn't looking good, all the green waste was just looking very dry, had't done anything with it though since October.

The compost in the pallet heap is doing well though and leaf mould is rotting nicely.

That's what mine looked like too, Zoomer44. Maybe it's too dry (it's in a plastic bin). Or maybe it's simply still too cold.

  • Done some gardening at the station bit of planting and cutting,  sowed my sweet peas lot for scent and mixed colours also my cleome white and mix of pinks

Zoomer44 bee keeper had lots of plots did he have a hive on all of them?

maybe add some water to you compost bins and fork around the stuff

Sounds as most of you been busy at you allotment plots

Compost , I would water it and perhaps had a bit of soil and start putting green stuff in

    just to mix it up

There is some on the site a good section on compost

Have a good day everybody image

  • Mine is very dry too Aster, Mix it up with some water and fresh grass cuttings.

Chinese man came up at the weekend, cleared up his mess and did quite a lot thank goodness!I would hate to have to the complain to council

Did a lot of digging, so aching quite a bit today!

Got some lovely rotted chicken manure from the chicken shed at the stables where I ride, so spread some of that over. Its great stuff, really crumbly.image

All our plots are taken this year so no chance of any more space.
