I had a poke in the compost bin that I'd started in October and was disappointed to see that the stuff didn't look like organic stuff that's magically turning into compost but simply like organic stuff that's been left lying around for months. I know there's no reason why my compost bins should be singled out as the bins where normal decomposition processes don't happen, but right now it looks like it!
I'm so sore from all the digging I did this weekend, but it's in a good cause.
Hello all , another day on the plot and looking good , although cold if you where in sun it was fine , infact had to put sun glasses on while having coffee / lunch breaks
Did take pictures but as the sun was so low not very good and can't really see anything
onions , garlic looking good , beds weeded
chard and spinach had it really but left in for moment
Replanted some more juruselem articokes as wind breaks along fence
horse manure around Rubarb plus loads of little jobs
I hope you all had a good day what ever you did
ps. Have you seen there is now a greenhouse site on furom , for those with g/h
I ordered some garlic from suttons a while back and when they arrived they were all mouldy within 5 mins of my posting a pic on their Facebook page I had an email from them saying they'd replace them I got half of them planted today
Lots to do at my plot so I need to pull my finger out
Fruitcake , a disappointment with garlic but at least they responded very quickly , we put most of our garlic in before the winter , just put a couple of buldbs in today that where sprouting
Done some gardening at the station bit of planting and cutting, sowed my sweet peas lot for scent and mixed colours also my cleome white and mix of pinks
Zoomer44 bee keeper had lots of plots did he have a hive on all of them?
maybe add some water to you compost bins and fork around the stuff
Sounds as most of you been busy at you allotment plots

The compost in the pallet heap is doing well though and leaf mould is rotting nicely.
That's what mine looked like too, Zoomer44. Maybe it's too dry (it's in a plastic bin). Or maybe it's simply still too cold.

Compost , I would water it and perhaps had a bit of soil and start putting green stuff in
just to mix it up
There is some on the site a good section on compost
Have a good day everybody
Mine is very dry too Aster, Mix it up with some water and fresh grass cuttings.
Chinese man came up at the weekend, cleared up his mess and did quite a lot thank goodness!I would hate to have to the complain to council
Did a lot of digging, so aching quite a bit today!
Got some lovely rotted chicken manure from the chicken shed at the stables where I ride, so spread some of that over. Its great stuff, really crumbly.
All our plots are taken this year so no chance of any more space.
Thanks, everyone, I'll follow your advice.
