In answer to your questions Gardengirl , yes there is tip nearby in fact it is about 200m down the road but obviously they would have to pay to tip that kind of rubbish which includes hazardous substances like asbestos , the dangers of which they are obviously oblivious to.
Thankfully there are no chickens or other livestock on our allotments that would need looking after.
I actually have a full size plot which keeps me busy ( when I can get to it ) , and we are down in Oxfordshire .
Thought you might like to see what we have to endure . As you can see our gate has been forced open and behind what you can see there must be 15-20 old fridge freezers and lots of other garbage.
Our secretary has e-mailed us all saying that there may be some movement on clearing the way and giving us access soon but this weekend is a right off.
HelloTerry29 I see what a mess you mean terrible, I am way down in Hampshire, Looking at your allotment entrance may be to the left with the grass area I think it needs some volunteer gardening to be done with lots of flowers, shrubs to make it look more attractive may help with less fly tipping so round up some allotment holders
How far are the plot after the gate?
This is great getting people all over the place with allotments
Been volunteer gardening this morning at the garden project clearing some ivy and brambles from a new ground bed and others cleared lots of rubbish things - kids big toys from over the fence toy cart trampoline, we did a bit before the rain came in too much
I have washed out my bird houses just got to find the spots in the garden to move them to
Went to the allotment - the shop has ordered my seed packet coreopsis tinctoria from kings seeds and it has arrived forgot purse today so will buy tomorrow was only going for a look around shop
Managed to get some digging done so that was nice and it was a warm sunny day want to get more digging done tomorrow - some plots still got a lot of standing water
spotting some birds but was not sure what they were could not get a picture too far and fast
Scroggin I .have to admit that the thought of giving up my plot has crossed my mind. But I don't think I would find another plot in time and in good enough condition to benefit me for this season . So I will give it this year and see if I can get another plot elsewhere for next year .
Just been catching up from the past week. What a nightmare, Terry, some people are so lazy and selfish. I think if it was me I'd drag it bit by bit back to the travellers site and dump it at their main access but I'd probably be done for fly tipping
Hope it gets sorted soon and all is still okay on the site.
Terry , I just remembered a farmer I New had a problem with travellers fly tipping so he arranged for several tractor loads of manure to be dumped at the entrance to there site , it worked !
Both of use had a good day at allotment , o/h planted shallots , cleaned up strawberry ? beds and dug up rest of leeks
I pruned apple trees ? and grease banded them and managed to burn all the prunings
The moli got frosted not many left so put them in compost bin
Still got some turnips & sprouts left
Kale , chard , spinach and brocoli still hanging in but soon finished

Still we live in hope .
