YerMan thanks for the info - only one slab has the concrete so will try bash it off, the others just need a good scrub clean, are you building or buying shed?  where is it going on your plot

I spotted a nice shed today on Gumtree not getting it though as still going to finish building mine

GWRS great picture, they look nicely layed paving slabs and good lid to keep the wood dry, do you put coal in the coal bunker?

We have a coal hole more like a small bit on side of house where I am storing lots of my free wood for use as raised beds and bits for shed

Hello , yes coal bunker derinately used for coal , in fact it is ordinary house hold coal , it cost £15-00 a bag and we get 4 in it

However , because it is an open fire ? we burn all sorts of wood , tree branches ect , one year I was given a load of window frames , minus the glass

Just need to replant some Fushias

Layed slabs on sand with a bit of dry cement

  • Hello all

Went to the allotment plot twice today as picked up some paving slabs from a different place to the last one, had to do two loads in car of 5 paving slabs pretty heavy ones  so now have enough for under the small storage shed - few with corners missing but should be fine under the shed

  • Hello everyone . Glad to hear you are all enjoying getting on with your allotments , I wish that I could say the same.

Yesterday I went to my allotment hoping to finish digging in all the green manure I had sown over winter only to find that a great mound of rubbish had been fly tipped right in front of the entrance making entry impossible .

This has been an ongoing problem for our allotments as our gate has been continuously vandalised and consequently fly tipping has been taking place along our entrance track and now that is full they have just dumped it outside . When I refer to they I am referring to the inhabitants of the local 'travellers ' site which is situated 50m from our entrance .

To get it cleared seems to be an ongoing battle between various councils and departments with finance being the main issue . This is the second time in 3 years that this has happened and the costs will run into tens of thousands which in this day and age is money that could be better spent elsewhere. To add insult to injury they are now complaining to the council about the time it is taking to get it cleared away !

So we don't know when we are going to be able to access our plots again which is particularly frustrating at this time of year when there is so much preparation to bee done for the new season .image

  • Terry29 that is terrible never thought people would do that in front of allotment gates

is there not a tip near by they could use but still might not

does anyone have chickens to get to

what size plot do you have? where abouts are you?

  • Scroggin thanks hope I will be able to place the paving stones all level - need to clear and dig area first, good that shoots of rhubarb are popping up, weather quite windy today here and will be worse tomorrow by forecast will be helping in the morning gardening at Woolston garden project first time this year

Some plots on the allotment are rather wet with lake bits on and big lakes on tracks and in front of loo
