I'm pleased with my autumn planting of onions, garlic and shallots. The back up one's have also done well, I dont' know were to plant then all.
It's still to cold here to plant out spuds and with snow forecast for Easter, they aren't going to be planted out anytime soon.
I like this time of year though, everything is coming back to life, looking forward to a harvest of cherries this year, ready with fleece to cover them this time.
Collected some pallets today for next week as for the garden project we will be buildig a compost bin Went to plot took one pallet apart in carpark to use slats for my compost bins, took to plot had to detour as plot neighbour having a bonfire in carpark in a metal drum and other plot person sitting watching fire Path all muddy as rained again soil still bit wet going to get to plot tomorrow for digging
Went to the plot yesterday lots of digging done Today went to the plot spotted a yellow butterfly on way in at plot did some strimming and edging and digging and also went to the tip really nice sunny day today Quite a bit done
Gg Spring is such a nice time of the year, everything is waking up.
Just got home from Aberdeen, ever so cold up there. Aubergines, toms, chillies and peppers have germinated at home. Hoping to get to the plot tomorrow and will get to see if anything has germinated in the GH.
I've subscribed to a different growing mag, the pull was 20 packets of seeds with first subscription. Seeds have arrived and I'm really pleased with them, only two/three varieties which I wouldn't grow.
Despite the cold weather quite a few seeds have germinated, kale, peas, chard and some flowers. Still to cold for anything to germinate outdoors though.
Aldi are selling garden stuff over Easter. Bought some chilli plants, £1.69 for six seedlings.
Hoping to plant salad and 1st earlies out this weekend.
Zommer not planted spuds yet may leave it another 2 weeks as the area is not ready up the allotment and the soil really wet with all this rain - great seeing little seedlings
Starting tomato seeds again as did not germinate as out in plastic gh and seed areas went mouldy - more seeds up in loo roll tubes and peat pots
It just seems too soggy here. I've got broad beans, peas and potatoes all waiting to go but I think it'll be next weekend at the earliest before the weather is good enough.
