Hi all, car broke down yesterday so couldnt go horse riding and spent most of the day weeding, mulching the garden instead    Got to the plot in the evening for a short while (on foot)  and found a huge bag full of coffee grounds left for me by another plotter.  (its supposed to be good for the soil, certainly made it smell lovely!

I grew loads of garlic last year and quite a lot of it is sprouting so I have re planted them in modules, Should have masses of garlic this yearimage

    car is now fixedimageimageimage

Nothing beats the smell of strong coffeeimage

Finished off a flagged path yesterday and planted some raspberry plants. I've got them popping up around the plot, so I moved half a dozen.

Started off some broad beans, pea's and sweet pea on kitchen roll too.

My garlic is looking very sorry for itself, it was planted last October.

I agree about the coffee! image

Ginagibbs, my first thought when I read couldn't go horse riding because your car was broken down was, at least you can ride a horse until the car is fixed. image But I know how you meant it, of course.

I managed to get some digging done a few days ago, but it's been too wet since and with the forecast being what it is I don't think I'll have a chance until the weekend. I suppose I should view it as a good opportunity to get some sowing done in my new propagator.

One of my allotment neighbours confessed to using my bootscraper. I'd suspected someone was doing that (even though I thought it couldn't be worth anyone's while to go out of their way for that), because I'd found mud on it. But this bloke swore that he always cleans it, so there might be more than one culprit. I suppose spending about £12 on their own scraper would be too much hassle... Oh well, it's amusing rather than annoying.

That reminds me, are strawberry mats with copper so much better than ordinary strawberry mats? They are certainly much more expensive and I need 30 of them...

Ginagibbs make sure you do your shopping on Thursday at Aldi for the new garden bits as well I will be going again for weed matting

Aster2 you have to watch other don't you - sneaky aren't they, they so should get there own, same with others and my wood

Aster2 strawberry mats with copper they stop slugs as gives them electric shocks

Zoomer44 coffee is meant to keep slugs off plants if you put a circle around them as a barrier

More seeds sown today flower ones, looked at my seeds in the green house tomatoes have flopped over may have lost them (bummer) they were inside a propagator in the greenhouse as well

Scroggin that sounds great lots done

Hello last year surrounded strawberry bed with Bark clippings plus glass jar with slug pellets,  slug damage was minimal image

I confess to using blue pellets on slugs but also spray early with a garlic mixture, I mixed coffee beans with compost last year and put egg shells round the base of plants in the GH. I also stood some bottomless pots in gravel tray's in the GHimage
